Is It Possible To Pass The Ultimate Harry Potter Quiz?
We’ve seen the films, read the books and bought the merch… but can you pass the Ultimate Harry Potter quiz?
‘It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.’
-Albus Dumbledore
Can you believe it’s been seven years since the ultimate battle at Hogwarts took place on our screens? We’re still not over losing Fred…and the fact that Neville Longbottom got buff!
It’s even scarier to think that it’s been over two decades since J.K. Rowling finally got the better of the publishers who rejected her beloved brainchild – Harry Potter. Of all the magical places in the wizarding world is there anywhere as enchanting as Hogwarts?
Young witches and wizards everywhere were waiting for that special day when they could pack their bags and become a part of the magic and so did we…. eagerly sat by the letter box on our eleventh birthday only to be sorely disappointed when that wax-sealed envelope didn’t come flying into our lives. Bet it was Royal Mail’s fault….
So instead, we spent out childhood reading, re-reading and re-re-reading all the Harry Potter books, so much so that we’d practice our spells using chopsticks, twigs or your basic biro pens.
But J.K. Rowling’s magical universe was very close to not being in existence as believe it or not, 12 publishers actually rejected her idea of the magical realm.
The acclaimed author thought up the idea on the train from Manchester to London. And that idea?
“Boy who doesn’t know he’s a wizard goes to wizarding school.”
It might have started that simple but it has since erupted into one of the highest grossing franchises to ever exist as by the time she reached Clapham Junction, the writer had developed the simple thought into a seven book series.
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone was written in Edinburgh where JK Rowling and her daughter were living on benefits.
Later offering hope to aspiring writers, JK Rowling revealed how the first literary agent she sent manuscript to rejected it simply with a slip of paper.
Eight films, one theme park, a stage play, countless video games and endless products later, the series remains as popular as ever especially with the latest expansions; Fantastic Beasts.
Surely we’ve all taken the Pottermore quiz to see what house we’re most suited to…
Gryffindor – Gryffindor values courage, bravery, nerve, and chivalry. Gryffindor’s mascot is the lion, and its colours are scarlet and gold.
Slytherin – Slytherin values ambition, cunning, leadership, and resourcefulness; the Sorting Hat said in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone that Slytherins will do anything to get their way.
Hufflepuff – Hufflepuff values hard work, patience, justice, and loyalty. The house mascot is the badger, and canary yellow and black are its colours.
Ravenclaw – Ravenclaw values intelligence, creativity, learning, and wit. The house mascot is an eagle and the house colours are blue and bronze
So you think you’re ready to enter the magical gates of Hogwarts?
Well before you go trying to run through the walls at King’s Cross station (which we really wouldn’t advise…) we’ve set up a challenge to find out whether you’re a true wizard or an impersonating muggle!
Do you know your dragon heartstrings from your unicorn hair? Or your hawthorn from your blackthorn?
Everyone knows it’s Levi-O-sar not Levio-SAR but do you think you know enough to pass this ultimate Harry Potter quiz?
Time to test your wizardry knowledge and prove you’ve got what it takes! Or maybe it’s time to go back to the library with Hermione and brush up on your herbology…
