It wouldn’t be summer without Love Island– and it won’t be long before it’s back on our screens!
The reality show’s eight series is set to make a return in the next couple of months- but when exactly will it be back on ITV2?
Here’s what we know about Love Island 2022 so far…
When Does Love Island Start?
Love Island is expected to kick off on Monday 6th June.
It will be the show’s longest-running series yet, but nobody’s really sure how many weeks it will run as of yet.
Love Island has typically run from six to eight weeks in previous series.
“Love Island is coming back with a bang and it will begin on the second full week in June.
The schedules are being put together now and fans can expect a long, hot summer of fun from the villa from 6 June.
Filming for the promotional adverts is beginning in the next couple of weeks and the ads will start in May.
This series is going to be the longest ever and it’s from a brand new location so it’s all very exciting.”

Arabella Chi: Catching up with the Love Island star
Regular host Laura Whitmore is back for 2022, as is Laura’s boyfriend Iain Stirling, who will be giving us more sassy commentary about the new batch of contestants.
Contestants
While nothing’s set in stone, there’s been a fair few rumours about who will be joining the cast for 2022.
Beautician Sophie Draper, 22, dated Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash for four years before their split last year.
Apparently she’s now met with ITV chiefs who think she is the “perfect fit” for the dating show.
“Sophie is a gorgeous girl who is really driven and determined to succeed.
She has her own beauty salon and already leads a jet-set lifestyle, which she likes showing off on Instagram, so she wouldn’t be fazed by being on TV.
Love Island bosses think she could be a good fit for the show. It’s early days still but she definitely has potential.”

Nas Love Island: What happened to the reality TV star?
There are also rumours that Zara McDermott’s brother Brad will be heading to the villa soon.
The artist has over 16,500 followers on Instagram and judging by his social media profiles, he appears to have an interest in the sport Muay Thai.
“Brad is a young, good looking guy, and he has seen how appearing on Love Island has completely transformed Zara’s life.”
Controversy
While many are looking forward to the reality dating show’s return, there are fresh calls for Love Island to be cancelled completely.
There have been four deaths linked to the show so far; 2016 star Sophie Gradon and her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong, 2017 contestant Mike Thalassitis, and presenter Caroline Flack.
Sophie was found hanged at her home, and her boyfriend Aaron then took his own life three weeks later.
Mike was found dead in a park in 2019, while Caroline Flack took her own life in 2020.
These four tragic deaths have led to increased scrutiny over the dating show’s aftercare for both contestants and hosts.

Anna Vakili: Where is the Love Island star now?
While ITV has expressed its sadness at the deaths of its presenter and contestants, bosses have faced pressure to provide better help to those involved with the show, and give them clear guidance on how to deal with the pressures of fame.
Former contestant Zara Holland backed calls for the show to be axed.
Meanwhile, others like Olivia Attwood have defended the show. But Olivia also admitted there should be more therapy offered to contestants before they actually enter the villa.
