We don’t know about you, but we spent a LOT of our lockdown getting down under with Love Island Australia. And Cassidy was a hot favourite from the very beginning.
The barmaid was eventually dumped on day 25, but it didn’t stop her from making a huge impact with her UK fans- especially when it came to her tactics to win over the boys!
Let’s catch up with the reality star.
Cassidy Love Island Australia
Cassidy McGill was one of the Love Island Australia OGs. She seemed like a sweet, country girl who had her heart set on Grant, who would later make a last minute switch to ditch her for former Miss Universe contestant Tayla.
At this point, we really felt for Cassidy. She soon started flirting with the new boys, including Dom- who had famously never had a relationship. Safe to say things didn’t go well…
Cassidy wasn’t afraid to make her feelings clear, and she seemed completely smitten with him.
“I love that there’s something mysterious behind Dom. I feel like I would be OK trying to figure that mystery out for the rest of my life.”

Arabella Chi: Catching up with the Love Island star
Cassidy went into a rage when Dom was sitting by the pool with Millie, and she was convinced that her old favourite Grant had been whispering into Dom’s ear.
After this, Cassidy and Dom were definitely over. So Cassidy decided to channel her rage at her week one villains, Grant and Tayla.
She tried to steal Grant away from Tayla, and Tayla wasn’t having any of it.
When she asked Cassidy why she was doing what she was doing, Cassidy replied with:
“F**k with me, I’ll f**k with you.”
Cassidy was then dumped from the villa after she was left without a partner.
After the Villa
Like many Love Island stars before her, Cassidy has now become a full-time influencer.
This means she spends most of her time advertising for different brands on Instagram – including your classic teeth whitening, fake tan and beauty products.
She now has a whopping 401k followers.

Yewande Love Island: Life After the villa
Cassidy has also started her own lifestyle vlog on YouTube, where she shows off her workouts and diet plans.
She’s also opened up about the pressures of being a social media star.
“The way I look at it, you have your job, you have however many bosses, you maybe have a review once a month… you move on from there.
I have 260,000 bosses essentially, sometimes I even put your happiness and needs in front of what I would actually like to post… it’s a hard job, it never stops.
I just want to give myself a pat on the back and my fellow influencers a pat on the back – it’s a damn hard job.”
Trolls
While Cassidy’s soaking up her new found fame, she’s also been dealing with online trolls.
The reality star revealed that she would often receive cruel comments about her ‘thunder thighs’, so she ate clean and worked hard at the gym.

Nas Love Island: What happened to the reality star?
“On Love Island I was labelled the plus size girl (by the public). I was a size 10… This rocked me to my core.
This was the first moment in my life where I felt truly ashamed of my body and felt that unsettling feeling of constantly being self-conscious. It was awful.”
The comments I would read, the articles written, the most unflattering pap shots. I spiralled into an obsession with training to fit a certain standard”.
But she’s now realised that she can’t please everyone.
“I am now (again) a comfortable size 10. I am proud of my body. And I am so grateful for my health.”
