Apparently Ted Danson and Whoopi Goldberg met wayyy back in 1988 when they both appeared on the popular late-night talk show, The Arsenio Hall Show.
The pair quickly struck up a friendship, and four years later in 1992, the two comedians were cast alongside each other in the movie Made in America. And according to sources, this is when their affair started.
Ted and Whoopi were close throughout filming, and rumours soon started circling that they were romantically involved. This caused huge controversy; while Whoopi Goldberg was single, Cheers star Ted Danson definitely wasn’t…

Ted and Whoopi’s affair was soon slapped across every newspaper and tabloid around. And unsurprisingly, this turned Ted and Cassandra’s marriage from bad to worse.
Apparently the couple had been struggling with their relationship after Cassandra had a stroke while giving birth to their daughter Kate. It left half of Cassandra’s body paralysed.
Though Ted remained by his wife’s side as she learned to walk again, the trauma of the stroke created “a huge rift” between the pair.
Speaking to Closer Weekly, the actor said:
“We were adjusting to the fact that we weren’t the same people we were before it happened.”
After hearing from multiple sources that her husband was cheating on her, Cassandra decided to surprise her former husband on the set of Made in America. She reportedly saw Ted Danson and Whoopi Goldberg taking a romantic walk in the woods, which confirmed her suspicions that they were together.

At this point, Ted and Whoopi became much more open about their relationship, and were often papped out and about together.
But this didn’t help matters between Ted and Cassandra, and she did everything she could to get a decent settlement for herself and the kids.
Ted’s ex-wife eventually walked away from their marriage with their two children and $30million, making it one of the most expensive celebrity divorces of all time.
“He [Ted] knew how bad it looked that his affair was so public and he didn’t stand a chance at fighting Casey on it. But he didn’t expect to take such a huge financial hit.”
Moving On
