She might be stealing the spotlight with Machine Gun Kelly these days, but Megan Fox is much more family-focused than the gossip columns make out.
The actress is super close to her mother Gloria Darlene Fox, who absolutely dotes on Megan and her three boys.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Fox family…
Megan Fox Mom
Megan Fox’s mom Gloria Darlene Fox gave birth to the actress in 1986. Megan’s father Franklin Thomas Fox was a police officer, and divorced Gloria when Megan was three years old.
Gloria later married Fox’s stepfather Tony Tonachio, who relocated the family to Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Tony was incredibly religious, and raised Megan and her sister under strict Pentecostal rules. They weren’t allowed to have boyfriends, or even have any friends over to their house.
“I was always alone,” Fox told The New York Times.

This strict upbringing ended up fuelling Megan’s rebellious side- something she’s still known for today!
“I hated authority figures telling me what to do.
I was wearing the smallest clothes I could find. My mom wouldn’t let me dye my hair blond, but I used Sun-In, and I had orange hair for two years. What can I say? It was Florida.
But my mom was right: being brunette was the one thing that made me memorable. I didn’t look like anybody else. So I clung to that.”
When Megan wasn’t landing herself in trouble, she was getting stuck into acting- something that mom Gloria partly inspired.
Gloria isn’t an actress herself, but the pair used to love watching The Wizard of Oz together.
“When my mom explained to me that Dorothy was not real, that an actress plays her, I decided I wanted to be an actress”.
Growing Up
Despite having zero acting experience, Megan was determined to bag herself some movie auditions.
Gloria Darlene Fox didn’t believe her daughter would make it as a Hollywood star, but she still moved to LA for a while to support Megan with her new career.

“My mother never really believed that I would be successful, but I never second-guessed it at all. I never once even got depressed. I’m my own thing.”
At 15 years old, Megan bagged herself a tiny role in Michael Bay’s Bad Boys II. The actress later went on to compare the director to Adolf Hitler, but when she was young and naïve, she was happy to prance around in a wet bikini for $500.
“I was thrilled to get wet. I was still a child, but for those two days I was being treated like a grown woman. I felt like I should be in a bikini dancing under a waterfall: that is where I thought I belonged.”
As Megan’s acting career started to take off, Gloria retired from her job as a real estate manager, and watched her daughter become a global success.
Fallout
Megan became an overnight hit when she starred in Michael’s Bay’s Transformers.

But Michael’s behaviour towards Megan was causing issues. She clashed with the director numerous times about his misogynistic approach to filming, and he eventually sacked her from the third Transformers movie Dark of the Moon.
Megan later spoke out about her time working with Michael:
“He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad man reputation.
He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is”.
Responding to Megan in an interview with GQ magazine, the director said:
“I wasn’t hurt, because I know that’s just Megan. Megan loves to get a response”.
He sarcastically added:
“I’m sorry, Megan… I’m sorry that I’m making you show up on time. Movies are not always warm and fuzzy”.
