The Good Morning Britain star has revealed she wants to help staff “get to know” her partner, who – despite being out of a coma and now Covid-free – is still seriously ill after contracting coronavirus earlier this year.
She opened up while talking to writer Michael Rosen about his battle with coronavirus on the ITV breakfast show.
Michael was hours from death and spent 47 days in an induced coma before waking up and he is now learning to walk again.
He explained:
‘The nurses who looked after me wrote little diary entries and letters to me when they came off duty.
‘There are pages of accounts of what they saw me in the state I was in. It is so moving and incredible, it’s wonderful’.

Kate – who was back on set after three months off as she focused on her family – revealed she had been inspired to do the same thing to help medical staff caring for her husband.
She added:
‘Michael, the team around you that started a journal for you is something I’ve started with Derek.
‘In the early stages the team were just so focused on medical life or death, there wasn’t a second, because they were so overstretched, to do something like that.
‘Now I’ve started it I’ve found it really helpful as a relative.
‘Because staff change, for them to come back and look at things from the day before helps them to know the patient who is in a state of unconsciousness.
‘It’s a wonderful idea and it’s wonderful you’ve got that’.
