Susanna Reid has lifted her alcohol ban and admitted that she has had “eight drinks in eight months”.
The 48-year-old TV presenter – who gave up booze last year after a heavy Ibiza trip with Judge Rinder – has opened up about lifting her alcohol ban after consuming “eight drinks in eight months”.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, radio host, Janey Lee Grace asked Susanna:
“You’re drinking mindfully. Are you?”
She replied:
“Yes … I’m not entirely not drinking. I’ve had eight drinks over the past eight months.
“I think there’s enough for mums to feel guilty about. After a long day when you are completely run ragged I completely remember that feeling of needing to take the edge off.”
Susanna’s co-presenter Richard Madeley – who is filling in for Piers Morgan whilst he takes a three-week break – opened up about his love of “non-alcoholic wines” and admitted he and his wife Judy went sober in November last year.
Richard said:
“Well Judy and I stopped. We stopped in November. And we found fantastic non-alcoholic wines which are pretty good.
“It looks nice, it occupies the space on the table where real wine used to go … it’s a prop. Actually it looks quite civilised. You’re dealing with a habit.”
Susanna previously revealed that since becoming sober she does “miss the alcohol” sometimes.
She joked:
“I can’t say what happened exactly [in Ibiza], as it’s too personal, but we went big. I do miss the alcohol at times.
“You know, you’re at the Groucho Club, there’s a party, someone brings the shots and you’re just … woo.
“I love the bacchanalia of it all, that rush of hedonism and escape.
“But then there’s the shame. I’ve had some of my best worst moments after a drink, but I don’t miss the hangxiety.”
