Vera Wang is one of the most iconic designers in the world. She’s built herself a global fashion empire- and there’s one particular person that’s helped her along the way.
The designer’s ex-husband Arthur P. Becker has worked alongside Vera for years now. While they’re not together anymore, they’re still actually business partners after all that!

Arthur P. Becker was Vera Wang’s husband for 23 years.
Arthur originally worked as a stockbroker before he started his own businesses- and he’s got quite a few under his belt.
The tycoon has set up everything from sports binocular companies to macadamia nut farms, but he decided to eventually settle on buying technology companies.
He did this for a fair few years until he managed to bag the top job at Navisite. After boosting the value of the company, he sold it to Time Warner for a cool $230 million.

Arthur then moved on to real estate, which he’s been working in for over a decade now.
And his business talents have helped ex-wife Vera Wang build her fashion company too…
Marriage
Vera Wang and Arthur Becker originally met back in the 80s through mutual friends. It didn’t take long for the pair to hit things off, and they got married in 1989.
The designer was working hard on her craft, and Arthur’s influence helped Vera turn her label into a multimillion dollar empire.
He joined his wife’s business as an adviser, and they soon became a runaway success.
But despite their wealth, there was something missing in their lives. The couple wanted to start a family, so they decided to adopt two girls.
Josephine and Cecilia Becker are just as fashion obsessed as their mother, and have been strutting their stuff on the runway since they were kids.
The family unit seemed to be going from strength to strength, but the cracks started to show in Vera and Arthur’s marriage.

After helping Vera turn her fashion label into a lucrative success, Arthur became increasingly involved in the day-to-day running of the company. But this pressure spilled over into their marriage, and they eventually parted ways in 2012.
When the split was first announced, there were concerns that this would affect Vera’s hugely successful label. But the former couple were able to put their feelings aside and focus on the business.
At the time of the divorce, a source close to the couple said:
“They will not let this impact the running of the company.
They have worked too hard to build it up.”
Despite their split, Arthur P. Becker still works as an advisor to Vera’s business even today.

But after she was turned down for the editor-in-chief position, currently held by Anna Wintour, Vera Wang left to join Ralph Lauren as a design director for two years.
In 1990, she branched out on her own, opening a chic design salon in the Carlyle Hotel in New York that featured her trademark bridal gowns.
At this point, Vera’s fashion business was going from strength to strength. She eventually ended up designing wedding dresses for the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian, making her one of the most celebrated designers in the world.
