Vera Wang Husband: Who Is The Designer’s Other Half?
The prolific fashion designer has had a glittering career. She started as the youngest-ever editor of Vogue in 1970, before starting her career as an independent fashion designer at aged 40.
Now 72, Vera Wang also has a high-profile marriage under her belt. Sadly, though, it didn’t quite go to plan.
But who was Vera Wang’s husband? Here’s everything you need to know about her relationship.
Vera Wang Husband
Vera Wang’s husband (now ex-), is Arthur Beck. The fashion designer married the computer executive in 1989 when she was just shy of 40 years old.
The couple married at the Pierre hotel in New York in an interfaith Baptist and Jewish ceremony. Talking about her marriage, Vera Wang has said that she never expected it to actually happen.
“I just made it. I was the girl who nobody thought would ever get married.
There are days I’m not happy I did it, but there are days I’m thrilled—I mean, he has always understood my nature, which is that it’s always about product.”

Arthur Becker started his career as a stockbroker, while also investing in several businesses on the side. His business knowledge came in handy, and he assisted his wife Vera with building her fashion business.
However, the couple didn’t last. In 2012, after almost 23 years of marriage, Vera Wang and Arthur Beck announced they were getting a divorce.
A reputed source at the time said: “They will not let this impact the running of the company. They have worked too hard to build it up.”
How many children does she have?
There was another complication to Vera Wang and her husband’s divorce – the pair have two children together. Vera adopted Cecilia Becker and Josephine Becker when she was 41 years old.
Despite the divorce, Vera maintains a close relationship with her daughters. They were raised in Wang’s home city of New York, just across the street from the designer’s own childhood home.
Cecilia was born in 1990 and Josephine in 1993, making the girls 32 and 29 years old this year.
Growing up, Vera Wang gave them the sam sophisticated childhood that she herself enjoyed in the Big Apple. Cecilia debuted at the New York Junior League Ball just like her mother – except that Cecilia wore a gown designed by Vera Wang.
At the time, Cecilia explained: “I tried on all these different wedding gowns to get an idea of which silhouettes I liked best,” the fashion scion explains. “I hadn’t had a chance to wear such a big, glamorous dress before, so I wanted to make sure we got it just right.”

Befitting the daughters of a mega fashion designer, both Cecilia and Josephine attended prestigious US colleges: the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
Despite being fully grown now, Vera Wang’s daughters regularly hang out with their mom at fashion shows.
Even though Vera never saw herself getting married or having children, she says that her daughters are her muses and first source of inspiration. “I love the way they dress. So modern,” she said.
Her Secret Talent
As well as fashion, Vera Wang also has one other – quite a niche – hobby, and that’s ice skating.
The designer started figure skating at just eight years old and even entered the U.S Figure Skating Championships in 1968. In fact, it was her failure to make the U.S Olympic team that led her to pursue fashion.
On the connection between skating and fashion, she’s said: “Both fashion and figure skating are subjective arenas and there are no guarantees.”

This year, her designs reached a huge audience at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, when Nathan Chen wore a Vera Wang outfit for his male free skate performance.
