Although the pair was blessed with a happy relationship, marriage and children, their time was sadly cut short when they both should have had many more years to enjoy together.
Who Was Tisha Taylor?
Not much is known about Tisha’s upbringing and background before she was thrust into the spotlight when marrying celeb comedian Charlie Murphy.

She was born in New Jersey in 1969, and seemed to have a regular private life, until her marriage to Charlie in 1997. It seemed she was a young, happy and healthy woman who enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Tisha Taylor was born in, lived in and sadly later died in New Jersey.
Who Was Charlie Murphy?
A lot more is known about Tisha’s husband, Charlie, owing to his famous career, as well as his famous family members. You may recognise his name (and his looks) due to his younger brother, Eddie Murphy. It’s actually quite difficult to tell them apart!

Like Eddie, Charles Quinton Murphy – Charlie – fashioned a successful career as a comedian, scriptwriter and actor.
And it’s no surprise, then, he caught the eye of Tisha (although it seems she caught his eye more with their first meeting!)
His most successful comedy series would be his time as stand-up on Chapelle’s Show.
But how did a New Jersey-born girl Tisha meet a famous comedian, go on to marry him and raise a family together?

How Did They Meet?
Tisha was enjoying dinner with friends on a boat when she first met comedian Charlie. Despite not knowing who he was, Tisha agreed to spend some more time with Charlie and left the boat to travel to none other than Eddie Murphy’s house. Now that’s what you call a first date!

Once there, Charlie confidently declared to his family that he’d met his future wife. And, of course, he was right. Though, no doubt, his family were sceptical after only meeting the same day! But, undoubtedly, Tisha had that certain kind of charm and kindness.
If Tisha didn’t know much about who Charlie was at this point, she might not have known who Eddie Murphy was, either. To be in the presence of two future comedic greats, and brothers at that!
The Pair Married In 2007
Charlie’s prediction came true, and the pair tied the knot in August 2007. For ten years, Charlie and Tisha had the perfect relationship – first as a couple, and then as husband and wife. They were together for several years before officially exchanging their vows.
Charlie wasted no time in gushing about his perfect wife. A match made in heaven until, sadly, Tisha lost her life in 2009 – only two years after getting married to Charlie. And only two years into what should have been a long and happy life together for these two soulmates.

Tisha Taylor’s Battle With Cervical Cancer
Tisha first began her fight with cervical cancer the same year she and Charlie tied the knot, in 2007. Such heartbreaking news for the whole family when this pair had only just exchanged vows.
For two years, she managed to battle the disease with her husband’s support, until in December 2009, the news came through that she would unfortunately lose the battle.
Tisha even used her remaining time to put together her own funeral plans – undoubtedly to take some of the burden off grieving husband Charlie’s shoulders. She was only 40 years old when she tragically passed away.
She passed away peacefully with her family at her side.
Tisha’s Final Wish For Husband Charlie
Like many devoted wives who just want to see their husband be happy, Tisha made it clear to Charlie Murphy that she wanted him to remarry if he could. It’s reported that even their children supported the decision for their father to settle down again.
But, sadly, Charlie could find nobody that would ever replace his wife Tisha. He never found love again, and he never remarried. It’s not clear whether he was actually trying to find a new partner, or if his grief over Tisha was too much for him to want to find anybody else.
Charlie Murphy Passes Away
Adding even more tragedy to the family, Charlie Murphy then passed away himself in 2017 – around 8 years after Tisha’s death. Charlie died from leukaemia, and was only 57 years old when he too passed.
Both Tisha and Charlie then left behind their grieving family and two children, with only several years between their passing.
