Gold Stick and Silver Stick
Although these names sound like something out of Game of Thrones, they are simply bodyguards of the British Royal Household as well as attendants to the Sovereign during ceremonies and other royal proceedings. These positions date back to Tudor times when they actually protected the sovereign from potential assassinations.
The Queen’s Flag Sergeant
As one might guess, the Queen’s Flag Sergeant has to raise and lower the flags at Buckingham Palace when the Queen is there. The Royal Standard has to be raised when the Queen is there and the Union Flag has to be raised when she’s not there. He also has to keep them safe in his office along with sending off the Royal Standards to wherever the Queen may be visiting. This is a short-term position, generally lasting two years.
Field Officer in Brigade Waiting
The name sounds way cooler than the position actually is. Basically, he is in charge of the Foot Guards and carries a baton when he isn’t on a horse.
