Emma Gleave: What Do We Know About Simon Gregson’s Wife?

Simon Gregson is best known for portraying Steve McDonald on ITV’s Coronation Street since 1989. While fans know Steve is a little bit unlucky in love, thankfully that’s not the case for Simon.

Whereas his character has been married seven times to five different women, Simon has been lucky enough to find the one. He’s been married since 2010.

As Simon Gregson prepares to star in a new reality show on ITV, let’s find out all about the actor’s wife Emma Gleave. Who is she?

Who is Emma Gleave?

Unlike her husband, Emma Gleave isn’t an actor, and also isn’t famous. Apart from that, we know very little about Emma’s career and personal life, though she has appeared once or twice on screen with her husband

For example, in 2010, she appeared on All-Star Family Fortunes alongside Simon.

The two got married in 2010 but had been together for a long time before that. When it came to their wedding, Simon was very conscious of his character’s luck in that area, and says that he actually found it hard to find a venue that didn’t make the ceremony feel like work!

He said:

“The one thing I was concerned about was once you have filmed a wedding so many times and said those vows so many times I was worried that my own wedding might not feel real and might feel like I was working,” explained the actor last year.

In fact, when we were looking for venues we found a nice one and then they told us it was where Roy and Hayley had got married, so that venue was out because that would have felt like work!”

Adam Crofts: What Do We Know About Tina O’Brien’s Husband?

In 2020, Simon and Emma Gleave celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. Emma marked the occasion with a sweet post on her Instagram.

She posted a photo of the couple during their first dance with the caption: “A journey filled with major ups, major downs and everything else in between! We always get back up though Si….. Happy Anniversary……. Here’s to the next chapter”

Simon’s Family

Simon and Emma Gleave have three children together. Their eldest, Alfie, was born in 2007, followed by Harry, who was born in 2009. Their youngest child, Henry Teddy, was born in 2016, five years after the two married.

Before the birth of Henry Teddy, Emma Gleave revealed that she was secretly wishing for a little girl.

She said: “After about 24 hours we got our heads round the fact that we’re having another boy. It will just be the three amigos. There was a little bit of me thinking inside that I would have loved a girl.”

Kym Marsh Daughter: Who Is Emilie Mae Cunliffe?

However, they didn’t have an easy time starting their family, as Simon has revealed.

Heartbreakingly, Emma Gleave suffered 11 miscarriages as they tried to conceive. One daughter called Georgia sadly died at 21 weeks.

Simon explained: “When Emma lost Georgia, she was 21 weeks, and what had happened was Emma’s tubes were twisted, but Georgia stayed alive long enough to untwist the tubes which they said it was amazing how she survived all that and then went.”

Simon’s I’m A Celeb Journey

In fact, it was Simon Gregson’s children who convinced the Corrie actor to finally give I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! a go.

He said: “The kids every year have said, ‘Do the show, do the show’ and I just couldn’t put up with that chant any more,” he said. “So I went, ‘Right, I’ll do the show!’

He entered the jungle a little later than other contestants, at the same time as EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt. While the experience must be been nerve-wracking anyway, Simon says he was mostly worried about people confusing him with his character.

Scott Thomas Love Island: Where Is The Star Now?

The Corrie star did remarkably well on the show, ending up as a bookie’s favourite to take home the trophy. In the end, though, Simon ended up finishing second, behind fellow soap star Danny Miller from Emmerdale.

He returned to Coronation Street after his I’m A Celeb stint, but now he’s leaving again to star in a new reality show.

Lorraine Kelly’s newest ITV show will see celebs paired with famous drag stars and compete to have the best drag makeover.

As well as Simon Gregson, other celebs confirmed for the show include Mr Motivator, Love Island star Chris Hughes and England rugby player Joe Marler.
