Sian Reese Williams

Sian Reese Williams is an actress and singer, and is used to performing on the stage as well as TV.

After graduating in Drama at the University of Hull, Sian went on to train at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

It wasn’t long before the actress was picking up high-profile roles, most notably in Emmerdale and Holby City.

She continued to work extensively in theatre, especially in new-writing theatre Pains Plough.

From here, Sian Reese Williams went on to pick up a few more cushy roles in TV, including Hinterland, Netflix’s Requiem, and Line of Duty.

Emmerdale

Sian Reese Williams hit the big time after scoring the role of Genesis Walker ( also known as Gennie) in Emmerdale.

She starred in the soap from 2008-2013, and was the adoptive daughter of Brenda Walker.

During her time on the show, Sian was a part of some absolutely huge storylines.

Gennie discovered Shadrach Dingle was her biological father, which made Chas Dingle her half-sister.

She also started a relationship with Nikhil Sharma, and the couple eventually got married. They then had a daughter called Molly in 2012.

But things took a dramatic turn for Gennie when she made a SUPER shocking discovery.

EastEnders Phil: What do we know about Steve McFadden?

Gennie Walker had overheard serial killer Cameron Murray talking to his partner Debbie Dingle about the fact he had killed Carl. Wrong place at the wrong time Gennie…

When Cameron and Debbie realised Gennie had found out the truth, they chased her in a tense car chase, but Gennie skidded off the road and crashed into a ravine.

Cameron saved her by pulling her out, and for a brief while, things looked like they’d be ok for Gennie.

But when Debbie went off to call an ambulance, he suffocated her to stop her telling anyone he had killed Carl.

It was one of the most dramatic episodes of Emmerdale of all time, and viewing figures went through the roof.

Sian was a massive hit with viewers at this point, so everyone was keen to see what the actress would get up to next. And audiences didn’t have to wait too long…

Mercedes Hollyoaks: Getting to know Jennifer Metcalfe

Sian Reese Williams said that her casting in the show was “a gift”:

“Holby has really taken me back to the camaraderie of my ‘Emmerdale’ days actually, and playing Jodie has been a gift.

Truthfully, I was really delighted to be working during lockdown, and I’m not ashamed to say that it really saved me, mental health-wise”.

Jodie quickly hit things off with consultant Sascha Levy, and the pair were soon expecting a baby.

But it wasn’t set to be a long stint in the BBC drama for Sian.

In February 2021, Sian Reese Williams filmed her final harrowing scenes as Jodie was sectioned after her unborn baby passed away as a result of her car accident.

Jodie begged Sacha to save the baby’s life over her’s, but events took a devastating turn in theatre.

Viewers were absolutely heartbroken, but Sian was ready to move on to pastures new.

Writing on Twitter, the actress said:

“Thanks, Holby. I had an absolute blast.”
