Shia LaBeouf Dad: What Do We Know About His Family?

Shia LaBeouf has been in the public eye for 20 years now, and not always for the best reasons. The controversial actor rose to fame in the Disney Channel show Even Stevens, and as an adult has starred in Hollywood blockbusters like Transformers.

In one very interesting role, Shia LaBeouf also played a fictional version of his real father in Honey Boy.

But what’s so controversial about Shia LaBeouf’s dad? Here’s everything that we know.

Who is Shia LaBeouf’s Dad?

It’s safe to say that Shia LaBeouf’s dad has had a bit of a rocky life – and this is putting it lightly.

Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf was a Vietnam veteran, but Shia and his dad are now completely estranged. But why?

Shia LaBeouf was born in 1986. Just a short while before his birth, Jeff was in prison for attempted rape. Because of this, he was placed on the sex offender registry for life.

These problems didn’t end when Shia was born. As a young boy, Shia frequently accompanied his dad to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

According to other sources, Shia LaBeouf’s dad was also addicted to heroin, and once pulled a gun on his son.

Shia LaBeouf found the creative space to explore his complicated relationship with his father in his film Honey Boy. In the film, Shia played a fictional version of his own dad.

On the relationship with his father, he said: “The only thing my father gave me that was of any value to me is pain. The only time my dad will ever talk to me is when I need him at work.

I’d love to be closer to my dad. But we’ve got something going on between us that’s really valuable to me right now—more valuable to me than having a father.”

In His Dad’s Footsteps?

Is Shia LaBeouf following in his dad’s footsteps? Recent allegations would say yes…

In 2021, musician FKA twigs – real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett – filed a lawsuit against the actor in Los Angeles. The lawsuit detailed years of physical and emotional abuse that FKA twigs endured when she was with Shia LaBeouf.

The two actually first met on the set of Honey Boy, Shia’s semi-autobiographical film about his childhood. By 2018, but the couple split just one year later.

Now, of course, we know the reasons for the split.

Robert De Niro Wife: Who Was The Actor Married To?

In one harrowing part of the lawsuit, FKA twigs details a Valentine’s trip to a spa. There, Shia LaBeouf strangled twigs and subjected her to verbal abuse.

Thinking back to the relationship, twigs said: “I honestly wish I could say that I found some strength and I saw this light. I wish I could say, ‘[It is] a testament to my strong character,’ or ‘It’s the way my mother raised me.’ It’s none of that. It’s pure luck that I’m not in that situation anymore.”

Unsurprisingly, Shia LaBeouf rejected the allegations. But he did say: “I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say…”

Is Shia Gonna Be A Parent?

Despite his difficult childhood and recent allegations, it looks like Shia LaBeouf has no qualms about becoming a dad himself – it appears his girlfriend Mia Goth is pregnant!

Shia and Mia were spotted earlier this month out and about in Los Angeles, with Mia showing off her growing bump.

The two actors first met on the set of Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac: Vol. II, which they both starred in. Not long after, they got married in Las Vegas, but the marriage didn’t last long. In 2018, the pair split.

In March 2020, though, they were spotted wearing matching rings. Then, in the summer of 2021, they spent a romantic day at Disneyland.

Now, it looks like Shia LaBeouf is going to be a dad himself. The two have been prepping for parent duties by spending a relaxed few days shopping in Pasadena, California.
