Tennis pro Serena Williams has it all. Not only is she a winner of 23 Gram Slam singles titles, but she’s also mum to her adorable daughter Olympia Ohanian. And she’s already following in her mum’s footsteps!
Here’s everything you need to know about the adorable family.
Serena Williams Children
Olympia Ohanian was born back in 2017 to Serena Williams and her husband, entrepreneur and investor Alexis Ohanian.
She may only be four years old, but Olympia’s already amassed a whopping 638,000 followers on Instagram. And she’s already harnessing her tennis talent!
In a video on her IG page, Olympia can be seen successfully completing a backhand swing- mini tennis grunt and all.
“Practice makes progress,” the caption read.
In a reference to their own mother who coached them as girls, auntie Venus Williams commented:
“It’s Oracene all over again!”.

Cecilia Becker: Who is Vera Wang’s daughter?
This isn’t the first time the Grand Slam–winning tennis player showed off her daughter’s moves on the court.
Last year, Serena posted a photo of Olympia perfecting her swing while decked out in a cute fitness outfit.
And in 2020, she opened up about signing her toddler up for her first-ever tennis lesson, with the instructor not even knowing who her mum was.
In a video posted to her Instagram story, Serena said:
“Guys, I signed Olympia up for tennis lessons.
Don’t even start with me, because I’m not giving her tennis lessons; I signed her up for some. But the lady has no idea that it’s my daughter, so we’ll see how long that lasts.”
Mini Me
While Olympia looks like a pro in the making, Serena revealed that it was never the plan to push her daughter into tennis.
Serena and husband Alexis were running out of things to do to keep their daughter entertained during lockdown, so the Grand Slam champ decided to introduce her daughter to tennis.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert, Serena Williams revealed:
“She’s a perfectionist on the court. I’m not quite sure where she got that from, but yeah, she loves it.
“I never thought I would let my daughter play tennis, but then during this pandemic, it was the only thing that we could do safely so I’m like, well, tennis it is.”
But Serena admitted that she still doesn’t see tennis as an ideal career for her daughter.
“It’s all consuming. It’s stressful. It’s a lot of work. It’s a huge commitment, and it might be a little dab of pressure on her.”
Professional Career
She may be a hardworking mum, but that doesn’t mean that Serena Williams has taken her foot off the gas with her career.
The tennis star has a huge legacy; she’s won the most single Grand Slam titles by any player in the Open Era, and is ranked as the world number one by The Women’s Tennis Association.
Serena Williams also holds the most major titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles combined among active players, with 39:23 in singles, 14 in women’s doubles, and two in mixed doubles.

However, there’s been concerns that the tennis pro could miss out on her final sporting years after she sustained an injury during Wimbledon in 2021.
Serena Williams retired late in the first set of her first-round match after an injury in her right hamstring, which has impacted her time on the court ever since.
She missed out on the Tokyo Olympics, and this year she’s been unable to compete in the 2022 Australian Open.
The tennis player revealed she is “not where I need to be physically to compete”, and said the decision to miss her latest round of tournaments was down to the advice of her medical team.
Fingers crossed we see Serena back on court soon!
