Scarlett Johansson family: Who are the Black Widow star’s loved ones?
Scarlett Johansson certainly must work hard being ranked highest-paid actress two years in a row. But, who are the family that support her?
Scarlett Johansson:
Scarlett Ingrid Johansson was born in the New York City borough of Manhattan on November 22, 1984.
She is 37-years-old and has pretty much grown up on the big screen, and that’s no surprise given her family tree.
Scarlett was interested in a career in the spotlight since she was really small and often put on song-and-dance routines for her family.
She was particularly fond of musical theatre and jazz, taking lessons in tap dance.
In interviews Scarlett always speaks positively of her childhood and says that her parents were supportive of her career choice.
Parents and grandparents:
Scarlett was born to parents Karsten Olaf Johansson and mother Melanie Sloan in the early eighties.
Her father is an architect originally from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Scarlett holds both American and Danish citizenship.
However, her paternal grandfather has ties to the film industry.
Ejner Johansson, was an art historian, screenwriter and film director, which must have helped her get her foot in the door.
Furthermore, her mother, Melanie Sloan is a producer.
Melanie comes from an Ashkenazi Jewish family from Poland and Russia.
Unfortunately Scarlett Johansson’s parents divorced when she was just 13.
A special bond:
Scarlett Johansson was particularly close to her maternal grandmother, Dorothy.
Dorothy Sloan was a bookkeeper and schoolteacher, who often spent time with her grandchildren.
Scarlett even considered her grandmother to be her best friend.
Scarlett Johansson’s sister:
All of Scarlett Johansson’s siblings have some kind of acting credit or other.
The star has an older sister, Vanessa, who is four years older than Scarlett, making her 42-years old.
Vanessa is an actress and director, known for Shark in Venice, Screen Time and The Objective.
She is not as well-known as her famous sister, but has made her mark on the industry.
The same goes for Scarlett’s brother.
Scarlett Johansson’s brothers:
Not many people will know that Scarlett Johansson is actually a twin!
Her brother Hunter Johansson is a lot more lowkey than Scarlett and tends to stay out of the spotlight.
However, he has been in a couple of films.
He is known for his appearance in the 1996 film Manny & Low and Entertainment Tonight.
The actress also has an older brother named Adrian and half-brother, Christian, from her father’s first marriage.
Adrian is also an actor, known for his performances in Rain, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned and Red Light August.
Scarlett Johansson’s husband:
When is comes to her marriage, Scarlett prepares to keep her spouse out of the spotlight.
However she did open up a little in a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore Show.
The Black Widow actress appeared on the popular daytime show to promote her latest skincare line called The Outset.
On the show, she spoke about married life with her husband comedian Colin Jost, whom she wed in 2020.
Host Drew Barrymore surprised fans on the show with an unbelievable throwback snap of Colin.
The image was an old school picture from 1997, with Colin appearing in a plaid button-down shirt and an outdated middle-part haircut.
“Oh my god…” Drew exclaimed as the photograph appeared on the screen, and asked the Marvel star, “So would high school ScarJo be into high school Colin?”
She didn’t hesitate to surprise the audience with her candid confession, admitting: “I don’t think so, no,” as she shook her head.”
Poor Colin!
She went on to explain that both her brothers had the same haircut, further turning her off from her lover’s younger self.
She said: “I just can’t, I mean, there’s no way, Who decided on that cut as a stylish thing?”
The mother-of-two also spoke out about one of her biggest fears about tying the know with such a popular comedian.
She told the host about a unique segment of Colin and Michael Che’s Weekend Update that only happens a few times a year, where the two surprise each other with jokes they have to say on live television, coercing one another into saying politically incorrect statements.
Scarlett admitted she always watches the segment on the edge of her seat, cringing at the consequences that the two might face afterwards.
Scarlett Johansson’s children:
Scarlett Johansson is a very dedicated mom.
She welcomed her first child, daughter Rose Dorothy, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac in August 2014, and has since given birth to a son named Cosmo, with current husband Colin Jost in August 2021.
Scarlett and Romain wed in 2014 and divorced just three years later in 2017.
The actress is all about being a mom — so much so that she is around her little girl as much as possible.
She once opened up about it on the Kelly Clarkson show.
Scarlett said: “She shadows me, like, all the time which is wonderful, and I know that it’s something that I’m sure in a few years she’s not going to want to have anything to do with me and I should soak it all up.”
