Her time playing battle axe Nicola King in Emmerdale has earned Nicola Wheeler an army of soap fans over the years. But when she’s not filming, the actress prefers to spend time away from the cameras with her hubby.

Nicola likes to keep her personal life VERY private indeed, but from what we can find out, the Emmerdale star is married to a man called Matt.
The pair share one child together. Nicola was very reluctant to share her son’s name with the public, but she eventually revealed that she and Matt had decided to name their child Jude.
Back in 2015, the actress announced she was pregnant via Twitter, telling fans:
“Thanks for all your congratulations still got a couple of weeks until arrives. Unless he/she gets impatient.”
Nicola went on maternity leave in March 2015, and fans and colleagues didn’t have to wait long for the star to give birth. She gave birth to her baby boy the following month, and her castmates were delighted!
The official Emmerdale Twitter page confirmed the birth with the message:
“BIG congratulations to @nicola_Wheeler and her baby boy, who arrived on Friday 13!”.

And Nicola’s pretty grateful her producers helped her balance her career with childcare duties.

Reflecting on her return to the Emmerdale set, the actress told The Mirror:
“I was very excited about being a mum for the first time and it was a great way to write Nicola out so that they could leave it open as to when I came back.
[After giving birth] I returned six months later and I can remember feeling appreciative about being around adults again.
I was still breastfeeding though and I can remember putting out a sign saying ‘milking’ on my door so they knew when I was.”
The cute family of three are believed to live somewhere in Yorkshire, but Nicola hasn’t given any hints about where exactly this is.

Nicola has been a core cast member of Emmerdale since she joined the soap back in 2001. She’s now the second longest-serving female cast member on the show!

Earlier this year, Nicola was attacked by a group of girls after she headed back to her car which had been left in a multi-story car park.
The girls tormented Nicola as they smashed up her belongings before eventually beating her up.
