Mick Hucknall, the famous Simply Red singer, has been very transparent about his family life growing up. But who are his family now? Here is all you need to know about his daughter Romy Hucknall.

Many were surprised when Mick Hucknall finally settled down and had a daughter, as he was known for his womanising ways and crazy partying.

However, having a wife and a daughter truly changed his life.

Despite Mick Hucknall being hugely private about his current family life, there are some things we do know about his daughter.

We know his daughter is named Romy Hucknall, and is around 14-years-old.

Her mother is Mick’s wife Gabriella Wesberry, whom he married in 2010 after almost loosing her many years ago.

Before he turned his life around and reconnected with Austrian art-dealer Gabriella, she had grown tired of his partying ways and ended their brief fling in 1992.

Based on recent appearances, we know what Romy looks more liker her father than her mother, proudly sporting his red hair.

At the moment Romy is very private’s and appears not to be on social media.

However, this could all change as her rock star father said she has had a strong interest in showbiz from young.

Father and daughter bond:

Back when Romy was just five-years old, Mick opened up about being a dad.

He said: “Fatherhood is the most enormous change in the most wonderful way. Nowadays, I get up at 7.30 and make her some chocolate milk and her breakfast. In days gone by, I’d be going to bed at 7.30 having been out all night.”

Putting his past woes of being raised by a single dad, Mick says Romy and his wife Gabriella Wesberry is all the sweeter.

He told the Mirror: “I never had a family. There was me and my dad, if you can count that as family, Two men in his house. So a wife and a daughter is simply completely and utterly new to me and it’s been a life changing experience. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I am devoted to them.

“I just love being at home – my wife and I are both around a lot so we spend an awful lot of time together. We have a good home life and a good marriage, and she is a very even, emotionally stable fun and happy kid.

“She’s not a daddy’s girl – I say she’s a ‘bothy’s’ girl. She is a better looking version of me. She has red hair, but she looks like her mum.”

Mick Hucknall has been very open about his experience of having a less than loving upbringing when it comes to the ordeal his mother allegedly put the family through.

But he did have a wonderful father, which may have helped him shape the amazing bond he has with his own daughter.

The Simply Red star once opened up all about his childhood.

From the scars he bears from harsh lessons learned from his mother, to the father who was his biggest protector.

Mick’s family life was torn apart when he was just three-years-old, when his mother Maureen Taylor walked out on his father Reg.

He wrote a song about the ordeal in a song titled Dad.

The ballad is a poignant tribute to his father who died six years ago.

It opens with the line: “She left, you stayed, it really wasn’t simple at all… She left, she’s gone.”

On releasing the song, Mick knew that Maureen, who now lives in Dallas, Texas, is likely to hear it.

But that was of little concern to the music star.

He told the Mirror at the time of release: “She should have thought of that before she abandoned us – and then went on to abandon another family, and two more kids, and ended up with four marriages.

“People who have had a mum and a dad find it hard to understand – there wasn’t even like a mum replacement figure because my dad never married again.

“As far as I’m concerned I had my dad and there isn’t another side. She can live her life and I won’t harbour a grudge.”

Cruel lies:

Mick had no contact with Maureen but things changed in the mid-1990s when Mick, now worth $40 million, was at the height of his fame.

She decided to contact her famous son to tell him she was dying of cancer.

Horrified by the news, Mick put quickly put aside his childhood pain and flew to her side.

However, shockingly it was all a cruel lie, and Mick spiralled deeper into what he sees as a battle with depression.

However, building his own family and a bond with his little girl Romy has been what’s helped him through.
