It’s safe to say that it hasn’t been the best of years for Matt Hancock.
The former Heath Secretary has felt the heat after his affair with his aide- which took place during COVID-19 restrictions- leaving him out of a job.
But it isn’t all doom and gloom for the former minister. He’s been busy raking in the cash during his time in politics- and he’s now a millionaire.
So how much is Matt Hancock worth exactly?
Matt Hancock Net Worth
Matt Hancock’s net worth was estimated to be between 1-3 million in 2020. It’s not yet been revealed how much he has in 2021.
His political career has been his primary source of income- and the former Health Secretary definitely raised a few eyebrows when it seemed like he and his friends were trying to profit from his position.
His pal and former neighbour ended up supplying the government with tens of millions of vials for NHS Covid-19 tests, despite having no experience in producing medical supplies.

And unsurprisingly, this didn’t go down well with the public.
Climbing the Ladder
Before getting into politics, Matt Hancock was actually an economist.
He went on to become an economic advisor at the Bank of England before making his way into politics.
In 2005, he became chief of staff to George Osborne, the shadow chancellor at the time.
Matt then rose through the ranks of the Conservative Party to become Health Secretary in July 2018.
But his ambitions didn’t stop there. In July 2019, he announced that he was going to stand to become the leader of the Conservative Party.

It was a short-lived dream for the Health Minister- he finished sixth in the first round of voting, so he promptly withdrew from the race. Oh dear.
But while Boris Johnson eventually succeeded, Matt continued to be one of the most well-known faces in Westminster.
He had a fairly close relationship with the Prime Minister, but his political career was on borrowed time…
Scandal
In June 2021, Matt Hancock landed himself in hot water once again. But this time, things took a turn for the worst.
The Health Secretary was caught having an affair with his aide, millionaire Gina Coladangelo, who he hired last year with taxpayer’s money.
The pair were spotted kissing at the Department of Health’s London HQ during office hours as the Delta variant began to spread across the country.
And to make matters worse, it meant that Matt Hancock had been cheating on his wife Martha, while Gina was cheating on fashion guru Oliver Tress- founder of Oliver Bonas.
It didn’t take long for Matt Hancock to make an official apology.
Speaking to the press, the politician said:
“I accept that I breached the social distancing guidance in these circumstances.
I have let people down and am very sorry.
I remain focused on working to get the country out of this pandemic, and would be grateful for privacy for my family on this personal matter.”

A Whitehall whistle-blower told The Sun it was:
“Shocking that Mr Hancock was having an affair in the middle of a pandemic with an adviser and friend he used public money to hire”.
But despite his apology, the scandal showed no signs of blowing over.
Matt Hancock eventually resigned from his position as Health Secretary, and was quickly replaced by Sajid Javid.
In October, he was appointed as the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa– an unpaid position. But this offer was taken back by the United Nations after they found out about the scandal.
