Martin Sheen has had a pretty steady career over the years. And he’s been in a steady relationship too!
The actor has been with his wife Janet for decades now, and they seem happier than ever.

Martin and Janet got together way back in 1960 after Janet arrived in New York from Ohio.
They were struggling to make ends meet when Janet fell pregnant with their first child Emilio, but it didn’t stop them from finding happiness.
The couple tied the knot on 23rd December 1961.
Apparently it was only a fifteen-minute ceremony at the altar- their wedding was sandwiched between a funeral and a mass at their local church!

After their wedding, Martin and Janet were still finding it hard to get by.
They were eventually evicted from their home, and the family had no choice but to go and live with Martin’s father and brothers.
At this point, Martin started to become passionate about acting. In 1963 he started a theatre company with other actors to try and gain recognition, which was around the same time their second son Ramon was born.
In time, the family’s fortunes began to turn around. Martin started scoring parts on TV and on Broadway, which provided the couple with enough cash to care for their kids.
The couple then went on to have two more children; Carlos (who you might know as Charlie Sheen!) and daughter Renee.
Career Moves
After their humble beginnings, Martin and Janet are now worth a combined $80 million.
Martin Sheen has starred in plenty of TV series over the years; in the 1960s and 70s, he made appearances in everything from Columbo, Hawaii Five-O, and Mission: Impossible.
The actor went on to dominate Hollywood in the likes of Badlands, Apocalypse Now, Wall Street, and The Way.
He’s recently starred in Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, as well as the Warner Bros. film Judas and the Black Messiah, which was released in 2021.

Meanwhile, Janet Sheen has been busy forging a career in producing. She might have taken longer to find her niche, but Janet’s a pretty unstoppable force these days!
Martin Sheen’s wife has been an associate producer for the film Beverly Hills Brats, and also worked on the film The Way which her husband starred in.
Health Struggles
Martin Sheen’s wife Janet has been the actor’s rock for many years now- especially when it comes to his health issues.
The actor has struggled with health problems since his heart attack at 37, which happened while he was shooting Apocalypse Now in the Philippines.
Speaking with Closer Weekly, the star reflected on the scary moment.
“There was a struggle to get me to a hospital because we were in a remote area of the jungle.
My wife, Janet, was running down the corridor, and I was on a gurney being wheeled in, and I looked up and saw her face. She leaned down and whispered, ‘It’s only a movie, babe. Please, it’s only a movie!’.”

These words became a bit of a lifeline for Martin. He’s now 76 years old, and has weathered some difficult health problems over the years.
In 2015, Martin Sheen underwent quadruple-bypass heart surgery- and again it was Janet who helped him back on his feet.
“She was there the whole time and I laughed my way back.
It was very serious, and she handled it like a pro. She had me laughing in the most dire circumstances. She said, ‘Don’t take yourself so seriously.
Every day is a celebration with this dame.”
The couple have now been happily married for over 40 years.
