Liza Weil daughter: Who is the Gilmore Girls star’s child?
Liza Weil is a much-loved American actress who we all know for her role as Paris Geller in Gilmore Girls. But who is her mini-me daughter?
Josephine Elizabeth Weil-Adelstein:
Josephine Elizabeth Weil Adelstein is one of America’s many famous celebrity children.
Her parents are Liza Weil and Paul Adelstein, meaning she may struggle to stay out of the spotlight in the future.
For now a lot of her life is kept private, with her mother only sharing small snippets of her daughter’s life.
However, we do know that Joesphine is eleven-years-old and was born in April 2010.
It seems she is already better traveled than most of us! Liza regularly shares updates of their travels to various beautiful locations on Instagram.
Liza shares a close bond with Josephine, as like her mother, Josephine does not necessarily have the most traditional childhood.
Since both her parents are actors, she spent much time on film sets growing up.
This is the same for Liza, as her parents were members of The Mad House of London, a prestigious comedy troupe popular in Europe.
Hence, Josephine’s mom Liza also spent much of her childhood traveling around the world.
Time on set:
In a previous interview with Nylon, Liza Weil shared some details about her daughter’s time on the set.
She said Josephine got close to the daughter of her friend and “HTGAWM” costar, Viola Davis, as they were close in age.
She said: “When she comes to set to visit me, she has her own life on set with Viola’s daughter. That makes me very very happy. She’s pretty low-key about it…”
In 2019, Liza told MEAWW that her daughter Josepine and Viola’s daughter are actually best friends, which is simply adorable.
Parents’ marriage:
Josephine’s parents Paul Adelstein and Liza Weil married in a Reform Jewish ceremony in November 2006 after meeting during their time in theatre.
The duo has starred together in three movies, 2007 short Order Up, the 2008 Gregory Dark-helmed Frenemy, and The Missing Person.
Liza Weil also starred in an episode of Private Practice with her husband in 2011 but they didn’t share a scene.
The early days of Liza Weil, Paul Adelstein and baby Josephine:
A couple of years after Josephine was born, her father Paul Adelstein opened up about life with baby Josephine.
Paul spoke about Weil and their daughter in a 2012 interview with Glamour.
The actor joked that Weil made fun of him for everything because he always said he had so much to do, but she always hit back saying he was not doing anything but only puttering.
When asked about how having a child has changed him, he said: “It magnifies everything. It’s a great thing.”
The dad pass:
Paul even spoke out about the double standards of having a “dad pass” while getting a ride to work from Today Parents’ Doyin Richards.
The two were speaking out about his 2018 sitcom titled I Feel Bad, which explores the struggles of family life, focusing on Paul’s character David Sweetzer’s wife Emet.
Emet is an ambitious woman, who is an ideal wife, mother, boss, daughter and friend.
However, she tries to do it all and struggles to accept her imperfections when she fails to meet her own standards.
Paul seemed to relate to the show, pointing out the double standard of expectations when it comes to mom duties vs dad duties.
Doyin Richards said: “Being a dad, you get so many passes. The bar is so low.”
Paul said: “Yeah, it’s low, right?… We get into it on the show, It’s such a double standard you know. I’m expected to do all these things, and you do one thing, but the picture — a dad pic on Twitter, everybody goes crazy.”
The clip then cuts to a scene from ‘I feel bad’ where Emet is heard saying: “You change one diaper, it goes viral. I change a diaper, I get shamed because, you know, the baby’s not potty-trained!”
Liza and Paul’s divorce:
While Liza and Paul enjoyed many years together as a couple, things officially ended when Josephine was around six-years-old.
Liza Weil filed for divorce from Paul Adelstein in March 2016, citing irreconcilable differences according to previous documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The divorce was finalized in November 2017.
However, Liza Weil soon moved on, dating her Murder co-star Charlie Weber from mid-2016 to February 2019.
Charile told People.com: “I enjoy it quite a bit. We’re very like-minded when it comes to our approach to acting. We’re two actors who are very dedicated to what they do and have a very easy time separating who we are and who we are as characters.”
Famous cousin:
Fans may not know this, but Josephine’s first cousin is Scarlett Estevez.
Scarlett is best known for playing Trixie on the television series Lucifer.
She has played Trixie from 2016 to 2021 and is fourteen years old.
While Josephine has stayed out of the spotlight so far, Scarlett began her career as a child actress playing Megan in the films Daddy’s Home in 2015 and its sequel Daddy’s Home 2 in 2017.
Scarlett also played Gwen on the fourth season of the Disney Channel television series Bunk’d in 2019.
