They won praise for their honesty about not wanting children- and Guy was especially candid about their decision.
Chatting with The Telegraph, the star said:
“I’d got to a point in my life, quite early on in my life where I really thought I knew I was never going to have kids, I didn’t need to have kids”.
Guy continued to praise Kate in every interview he gave, and he looked the picture of happiness when he was by her side. But something was beginning to go wrong between the couple, which the actor didn’t see coming.
Marriage Breakdown
Rumours began circling that Guy and Kate were in trouble- and the actor eventually confirmed the news himself.
In 2015, the couple broke the news that they were going their separate ways.
Making the announcement on social media, Guy wrote:
“Rumours r true I’m afraid – Kate and I parted ways back in Jan. Sorry 2 be boring but we couldn’t be closer. We’ll love each other 4 ever xx.
The best 20+ years of my life – with this beautiful lady”.
The actor later made a formal statement, and it was heartbreaking stuff.
“Kate and I will always love and support one another and be the best of friends. No one knows me like Kate does, and we’ll forever be appreciative of our mutual respect.
We’ve both grown enormously through our relationship, but sadly, the time has come to part ways.”

Unsurprisingly, there was a LOT of speculation about why Guy and Kate had divorced, but things didn’t become apparent until years later.
The actor was the subject of rumours that he’d cheated on his former wife, and he finally spoke out to the press four years after his relationship breakdown.
The LA Confidential star said:
“It’s funny, you know, I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to protect Kate in all of this. And particularly not saying that it was her decision to end our marriage.
I’ve got people coming up to me saying ‘you’re a b*****d for having an affair…. And I’m going, ‘that’s so not what happened.’
As sad as it was for me and as difficult as it was for her to kind of go ‘You know what, our time’s up’ was incredibly strong of her to do.
I just think wow, she’s just more incredible to me now than she was before.”
