Josh Widdicombe is one of the UK’s most recognisable comedians working today. He’s been on our screens since the early 2010s, appearing on shows like Mock the Week and The Last Leg.

Fans will also know him as the original winner of Dave’s Taskmaster, and the winner of 2017’s Champion of Champions special.

Most recently, Josh appeared on Who Do You Think You Are?, discovering that he has some very illustrious relations – and fans want to know more about his private life.

So who is the Taskmaster champion married to? Who is Josh Widdicombe’s wife?

Josh Widdecombe Wife

As someone who’s been working in TV for almost a decade, it’s no surprise that Josh Widdicombe’s wife comes from the same world.

He is married to Rose Hanson, who is a television producer. She is known for working on shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, Live at the Apollo, and Would I Lie to You?.

The couple are reported to have met in 2013. At the time, Josh was already appearing on Mock the Week and The Last Leg.

John Bishop Wife: The Truth About Their Relationship

The comedian and TV producer got married in 2019. Their first child, a daughter named Pearl, was born in 2017. She was followed by a son called Cassius in May 2021.

Josh has also opened up about his wife’s harrowing miscarriage on The Last Leg. He explained:

“The reason I haven’t spoken about it is because when Rose was pregnant which came after the miscarriage, you feel like – I know this sounds mad – but you don’t want to tempt fate.

When you’re pregnant after a miscarriage, every day feels perilous, like it could go wrong in the way you just don’t feel before.”

Josh Widdicombe’s Career

The comedian started out, as most do, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, making it to the final of the comedy competition in 200.

A year later, he appeared at the festival with a show alongside fellow comedians James Acaster and Nick Helm.

However, 2012 was the year he finally broke into the mainstream. In the summer, he joined Adam Mills on The Last Leg, which was originally broadcast as a companion show to Channel 4’s coverage of the 2012 Paralympic Games.

Robert Webb Wife: Who Is The Comedian Married To?

In 2013, as we know, Josh Widdicombe met his wife, at the same time as he was joining panel shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, and Have I Got News For You.

In 2014, Josh starred in his own sitcom named Josh, about four housemates in London. The show was so successful that it was renewed for a second and third series.

He also is an avid podcaster, and hosts a show about 1990s football nostalgia called Quickly Kevin, Will He Score?. Last year, along with Rob Beckett, he started a podcast called Parenting Hell. Stars such as Jimmy Carr have appeared on the podcast, talking about their hilarious parenting experience.

Though he keeps his personal life fairly private, Josh loves to talk about the joys and pains of parenting. Recently, he said:

“Some people are much more tired once they’ve got children. I would say I’m less tired because I’m just not hungover. I used to go out on a weeknight and have four pints and be tired the next day but I don’t do that anymore. That’s the biggest lifestyle change.”

Royal Relations

This year, Josh appeared on the celebrity hereditary show Who Do You Think You Are?, where he was shocked to find out that he has some royal relations.

Josh discovered that his 13-time great-grandmother was a cousin of Queen Elizabeth I. As if that wasn’t enough, his 12-time great-grandmother was related to Anne Boleyn.

Holly Walsh: Who Is The Comedian And Mock The Week Star?

Josh was left speechless after these remarkable findings. He said:

“To say it’s exceeded my expectations is the understatement of a lifetime. I was just expecting a couple of farmers. It’s proper blue blood, isn’t it?”

The findings come as no surprise to historians. According to studies, if you go back at least 900 years in history, every person on earth will share one common ancestor.
