The American actress shares daughter Josephine Elizabeth Weil-Alderstein with her ex-husband Paul Alderstein. While the Hollywood couple are no longer together, they continue to co-parent Josephine. But there’s been some definite bumps along the way…

Josephine Elizabeth Weil-Alderstein was born back in April 2010. This means she’s eleven years old now.

Josephine has spent most of her time travelling around the world with her parents. Liza often shares a few snaps of their adventures on Instagram, as well as their time on film sets. Safe to say that Josephine is more well-travelled than most of us!

Since both Liza Weil and Paul Alderstein are in-demand actors, it’s no surprise that Josephine has had a more unconventional upbringing. Her time hanging around film sets mirrors her mother’s childhood too; Liza’s parents were members of The Mad House of London, a prestigious comedy troupe popular in Europe.
In a candid interview with Nylon, Liza shared some details about Josephine’s time growing up on set.
She said Josephine got close to the daughter of her friend and How to Get Away with Murder co-star Viola Davis- and the pair were pretty inseparable.
“When she comes to set to visit me, she has her own life on set with Viola’s daughter. That makes me very very happy. She’s pretty low-key about it”.
Famous Parents
For a long time, it seemed like Josephine Elizabeth Weil-Alderstein’s parents were rock solid.
They had originally met during their years in theatre, and tied the knot in a Reform Jewish ceremony in 2006.
The couple even went on to star in multiple films together; 2007 short Order Up, the 2008 dark comedy Frenemy, and The Missing Person.
Liza Weil also starred in an episode of Private Practice with her husband in 2011, but they didn’t actually share a scene.

A few years after their marriage, baby Josephine came along. And it seemed like the couple were going from strength to strength.
But behind the scenes, things were starting to get strained between Liza and Paul.
The Gilmore Girls star eventually filed for divorce in 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences” between herself and her former husband.
Their split came as both actors were enjoying their own huge individual successes. This is thought to have played a part in their split.
Liza was starring in hit show How to Get Away with Murder, while Paul was busy with Bravo’s Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.
But rumours quickly started circling that Liza had actually been getting close to someone else at the time of her divorce…
Liza and Charlie stayed together for three years before parting ways.

While her relationships with Paul and Charlie haven’t quite worked out, Liza hasn’t let her heartbreak hold her back.
She’s continued to throw herself into her work, and she’s scored some super impressive parts over the years.
