Alexandra Hedison: Who is Jodie Foster’s wife?
Being married to an acting legend automatically makes your relationship very high profile! But who is Jodie Foster’s wife Alexandra Hedison?
Alexandra Hedison:
Alexandra Hedison is an American fine art photographer.
She was born in Los Angeles in 1969 to parents David Hedison and Bridget Mori, and is 51-years-old.
Her mother is a film producer and her father is an actor.
Her father is best known for his role as James Bond’s ally Felix Leiter in Live and Let Die and License to Kill.
After High School, Alexandra went on to attend the State University of New York at Purchase.
She also attended the University of California.
Alexandra is very successful with the photographer’s work in a number of solo and group exhibitions.
Her art photography is displayed in galleries and museums across the US and Europe.
Some of her impressive work can be found on her personal website.
Following in her parents footsteps, Alexandra has also taken a stab at the film industry over the years.
Also a director and actress, Hedison has appeared in multiple television series, including LA Firefighters, Prey and Showtime’s The L Word.
However, acting didn’t make her as happy as she was when working on her photography.
In fact, she found it unsatisfying.
She told The New York Times: “I was supporting myself, but I was miserable, actors need to be front and center all the time. That’s not me.”
How did Jodie Foster and Alexandra Hedison meet?
It is unclear exactly how and where Jodie Foster and Alexandra Hedison met.
It could have been through friends or even through work as they are both in the film industry.
However, their first date and meeting is tightly under wraps since they keep their relationship very low-key.
Though, it does seem Alexandra could have been the one to help Jodie Foster open up about her personal life at the Golden Globes.
When honored with the Cecile B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013, Foster addressed her coming out during her acceptance speech.
This was that year that Foster and Hedison began dating.
Later on that summer, reports noted that Jodie and Alexandra are spending a lot of time together.
The two would go to Fox Studios and dine out with friends.
Things moved pretty fast as the two married the following year in April 2014 after dating for almost a year.
The loved-up pair surprised many when they secretly married.
However, given that both women are notoriously private about their personal lives further details about the big day are not public.
Notably, the big announcement came several months after Foster gave her memorable speech at the 2013 Golden Globes.
They now live together with pet pooch Ziggy and are celebrating seven years of marriage so far.
She dated Ellen DeGeneres:
Fans may or may not know that the year 2000 marks the beginning of Alexandra Hedison’s relationship with Ellen DeGeneres.
The pair dated from the year 2000, ending things in 2004.
In 2003, Ellen launched the hugely-successful Ellen DeGeneres Show, and things didn’t last long after that.
Speaking of the relationship back in 2004, she told jokingly told The New York Times “I’d have to be Oprah to compete with her.”
“Hey, I admit that there are times that I can’t get a reservation at a hot restaurant unless I mention that it’s for me and Ellen.
“But I have to do my photography because that’s my work and it makes me so happy.”
The pair split when Ellen met her now-wife Portia de Rossi at the VH1 Awards.
Portia was dating director Francesca Gregorini at the time.
Both Ellen and Portia broke it off with their respective partners and quickly became a couple.
They married in 2008.
A supportive wife:
Alexandra Hedison is incredibly supportive of Jodie Foster.
The photographer sweetly congratulated her wife in an Instagram post when the 2021 Golden Globe nominations were announced.
It was an emotional night as Jodie was thrilled to pick up a Golden Globe for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a motion picture for The Mauritanian.
This is the third Golden Globe award the director and producer has picked up.
She previously won awards for her parts in Silence Of The Lambs and The Accused.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2021 award ceremony will always be different as picking up in the traditional way became impossible.
Instead Jodie picked up the award alongside her wife and their puppy Ziggy in the comfort of their home.
Alexandra relaxed her private nature for a split second to celebrate her partner’s win on Instagram.
Sharing a black-and-white photo of herself taking a picture of Foster, Hedison wrote, “What happens in quarantine stays in quarantine. Every day I’m a proud wife but today you get a special shout out in the remote land of IG.”
“I’ll have to show you my phone for you to see this but still…I’m shouting from the rooftops,” Hedison continued. “Congratulations to you, @taharrahimofficiel & everyone involved in this important film @themauritanian #goldenglobes photo by @brettglam.”
