It’s safe to say that Joan Allen is used to being in the spotlight by now. After building herself an acting career that’s lasted decades, she’s now got herself a brand-new red carpet buddy in the form of her daughter, Sadie Friedman.

Daughter Sadie Friedman is now 28 years old.
Her parents Joan Allen and Peter Friedman have had hugely successful years in Hollywood, so it’s no great surprise that Sadie decided to follow in their footsteps.
She fell in love with her parents’ works at a very young age after watching their films, and immediately thought about becoming an actress. Mum Joan even played Face/Off for Sadie, but this is one film that didn’t go down particularly well…
Joan Allen said:
“I think she was too young. I shouldn’t have turned it on!”.

Although Sadie is fairly new to the acting scene, she’s made quite an impression on the industry so far.
Joan Allen’s daughter started her acting career in 2018, and has since starred in the likes of Blue Bloods, Side Effects and The Cannibals’.
And Joan is super proud of Sadie’s success so far!
Speaking on LIVE Kelly and Ryan, the star said:
“[Sadie] is pursuing acting and she was recently on Blue Bloods…
She doesn’t really ask for guidance… she just kinda grew up around the whole [acting] thing. And what I loved is when she went on the Blue Blood set and she said ‘mom, I felt so comfortable on set… I felt like I was home.’
That made me feel so comfortable… She had a wonderful time.”
Family Life
At the time of Sadie’s birth, Joan was still working on Broadway. But the actress was struggling to juggle the demands of motherhood with her career- and continuing in theatre would have made her miss every bedtime.
“I knew I was only going to have one child, and I thought, ‘This is my one shot. Do I really want to be out every night from six till 11?’.”
Joan Allen then made the switch the TV and film, which worked a lot better for her family.
And the actress certainly introduced Sadie to Hollywood at a young age!

Joan Allen and Sadie Friedman have been regulars on the red carpet together over the years.
The pair have stepped out at everything from the V for Vendetta and the Sweeney Todd premieres to fashion shows and events by In the Style.

Famous Mother
Joan Allen has a wealth of work under her belt, making her a renowned star on stage and screen.
She originally joined the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 1977. Shortly after her arrival, she was goaded by her college friend, actor John Malkovich, to push herself with her career. Safe to say she took his advice!
She starred opposite John in her Broadway debut Burn This, which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress.
