James Jordan and Ola: Their Secret Heartache

James Jordan and Ola are probably our all-time favourite pro dancers. But behind the flashy smiles and killer dance moves, the married couple have been shielding their heartache.
Their daughter Ella hasn’t been well recently, and the stars have finally opened up on what’s been happening.

After the news leaked to the press, James Jordan and Ola have spoken up about their recent traumatic experience with their daughter Ella.
The couple found Ella unresponsive in her bed and quickly took her to hospital.
Ella has also been diagnosed with a heart murmur, and recently suffered an allergic reaction that made her lips swell up.
Now that Ella is home, James Jordan and Ola are still concerned about their daughter.
The couple are now taking Ella to be checked over again over the next few weeks.

The pro dancers are still clearly shaken by Ella’s ill health and are coping the best they can.
“I know that people go through it all the time but you love your child so much, you feel helpless when she’s going through that. It was horrible to watch. She wasn’t walking, she was just lying there.”
And just as Ella’s been improving, she ended up having an allergic reaction to nuts in the same week.
Ola said:
“To add to it, we popped into Starbucks but they didn’t have Ella’s usual blueberry muffin so we gave her a couple of other things to try. She ate a bit and then suddenly her lips swelled up!
It’s been such an awful week, I don’t want to leave the house now.”
We really hope Ella feels better soon.
Family Life
Ola gave birth to daughter Ella back in February 2020 after a successful round of IVF treatment.
While the couple were delighted to welcome Ella into the world, it was a time that was particularly difficult for the pro dancers.
James’ dad had brain cancer at the time, and things took a turn for the worse.
He passed away in 2020.

Ola described 2020 as “the worse year of our lives”, and said she wouldn’t be having any more children right now.
Speaking with The Sun at the time, the dancer said:
“We would love to have more children, but unfortunately this is not the right time for us. And we’re not sure if it will happen again as we were very lucky to get pregnant with our first IVF.
But with everything that’s happened with James’ dad, it’s a reminder of how very fortunate we are.”
She added:
“Seeing a really healthy man deteriorate so much in a year has been shocking.
James is really struggling… I’ve just got to be strong for him because I have a baby to look after…
It’s a very difficult and sad time.”
Professional Careers
Like their personal lives, James Jordan and Ola’s dancing careers have been fairly eventful over the years.
After Ola moved from Poland to the UK, the pro dancers ended up partnered together.
They first danced as a couple in 2000, and got hitched three years later.

After a brief hiatus teaching Latin American dancing in Hong Kong, the pair hit the competition circuit again, and were quickly picked up by Strictly Come Dancing.
The couple enjoyed some serious successes on the show, but in 2014, the BBC wanted James to reduce his time with the contestants.
Instead of giving him a celeb partner, producers only wanted James to be involved in the show for charity events like Children in Need. And James wasn’t having any of it…
Ola was furious about her husband’s treatment, and left the show just over a year later.
