James Franco has been no stranger to controversy, and there was one particular movie that landed him and Seth Rogan in hot water.
Their film The Interview was about a TV host who was hired to assassinate Kim Jong-un. But it was later described by North Korea as “sponsoring terrorism”.
“To allow the production and distribution of such a film on the assassination of an incumbent head of a sovereign state should be regarded as the most undisguised sponsoring of terrorism as well as an act of war”.
North Korea eventually complained to the UN about the movie, but nothing came of it.

While his film projects have been controversial at the best of times, James Franco’s professionalism was called into question when he was accused of sexual misconduct.
The Hollywood actor pushed some of his former students to perform increasingly explicit sex scenes on camera at his Studio Film 4 School in both New York and LA.
While former students Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Toni Gaal have led the complaint against James Franco, there have also been other victims who haven’t made their case publicly.
A total of five women came forward in 2016 to accuse the Hollywood star of exploiting aspiring actors. They said that they were victims of fraud.
James Franco hasn’t said much about the case against him so far, but admitted that he did sleep with some of his students. However, he maintains he didn’t set up the school for that purpose.
“I suppose at the time, my thinking was if it’s consensual, OK.
At the time I was not clear headed.”
According to court filings, Franco has agreed to pay $2,235,000 to resolve the lawsuit.
Dating Life
Despite the damage the sexual misconduct lawsuit has done to the star’s reputation, it hasn’t stopped him from settling down.
James Franco has been dating girlfriend Izabel Pakzad since 2017, and the pair seem stronger than ever.
Izabel has a few films under her belt so far, and has appeared in Birds of Prey and The Deuce.
