Emma Chamberlain is now 20 years old. But she found fame while she was still at school!
After her dad encouraged her to find a passion outside of school, she decided to start a YouTube channel. She soon began to show off her dollar store hauls, and it didn’t take long for Emma to start building up her followers.
Emma’s YouTube persona continued to grow, and more and more people noticed a teenager who wasn’t concerned with having a full face of makeup for the camera. She would even zoom into her face, make fun of herself, and add funny voices to her videos. This style of editing became her signature “brand.”
In an interview with W Magazine the starlet said:
“I had never seen anyone edit the way that I edit before I did it, and it’s just what felt right to me.”
Emma then moved to LA to form The Sister Squad with fellow teen YouTubers James Charles and comedy duo The Dolan Twins, and the four of them were featured in YouTube Rewind in 2018.

Last year, James Charles faced backlash after it was revealed that the YouTuber allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to minors.
a 16-year-old TikTok user accused Mr. Charles of sending him nude photographs and pressuring him into inappropriate conversation on Snapchat.
James Charles denied the allegations.
“The accusation that I have groomed this person is completely false.”
He added that he was unaware the person he was messaging was under 18.
It didn’t take long for other underage TikTok and Snapchat users to confirm they too engaged in similar exchanges with the influencer.

A YouTube spokesperson said that the platform had temporarily suspended monetisation on his channel. James Charles also lost his partnership with cosmetics brand Morphe.
Unsurprisingly, Emma Chamberlain decided to distance herself from James, and she unfollowed him on social media. The pair hadn’t been seen together for over a year before that.
But as the controversy around James started to settle, they rekindled their friendship. And it didn’t take long before they started making videos together again.
