After winning the glitterball trophy with Rose Ayling-Ellis last year, Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice has been thinking about his future on the hit show.
Now that a couple of his fellow dancing pros have left, Giovanni has decided to set the record straight. So what will his future look like on Strictly?

Before you panic- it seems like Giovanni Pernice’s Strictly Come Dancing journey hasn’t finished yet!
While fans have been worried that more dancers will be leaving the show, Giovanni definitely isn’t one of them.
Chatting to reporters at the BAFTA awards earlier this year, the dancing pro spoke openly about his time on Strictly– and he’s keen to stick around for as long as he can.
Giovanni said:
“It’s not in my DNA to quit anything. I’m very competitive, so let’s bring on the next challenge.”

Several of Giovanni’s co-stars have left over the last few years, including Pasha Kovalev, Oti Mabuse and Kevin Clifton – with Aljaz Skorjanec being the latest professional dancer to announce plans to leave the show.
Strictly Success
Giovanni Pernice has had huge success during his time on Strictly.
Last, year, he was crowned champion with EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis, who was the first deaf contestant in the show’s history.
Strictly Come Dancing bagged a BAFTA at the recent award show, and Rose admitted that it was a “very special moment” for her and Giovanni.
In her acceptance speech the actress said:
“Hopefully it’s shown how powerful TV can be, where actually it can influence and change things.
It even helped the BSL law to be passed recently and made people stand up more for sign language and better Deaf awareness and positiveness towards people. We’ve still got a long way to go, but it’s such a great start. We are so, so, so proud of that.”

In week 6, the couple scored a perfect 40, the earliest the top mark that’s ever been achieved on the show!
Giovanni and Rose continued to go from strength to strength in the competition before making it all the way to the final, which saw them lift the glitterball trophy.
The pro dancer eventually got a tattoo to celebrate his victory, and has a cute picture of him and Rose at home. N’awww.
Dating Life
Giovanni’s future on Strictly has definitely hit some headlines in recent times, but there’s still one topic of conversation on fans’ lips… his dating life!
The pro dancer has dated a string of beauties- most famously Maura Higgins.
Giovanni went public with the Love Island star in July 2021, and there were a LOT of steamy Instagram pics to prove it.
The pair were so loved up that there were even rumours that Giovanni was planning to propose to Maura, but this turned out not to be the case.

Four months into their relationship, they suddenly split. And fans were left scratching their heads about what happened.
It turned out that Giovanni had dumped Maura as his training with Rose took over his schedule.
A source told New! Magazine at the time:
“Giovanni is taking this really seriously. He’s got a great relationship with Rose. They are doing incredibly well and getting so much love.
“Nobody understands what Strictly is like – it’s such hard work. All your time is taken up and Maura wasn’t given any time by Giovanni.
“You’re not allowed many people in the studio and she wasn’t given an invite. The writing was on the wall.”
