Meena Jutla’s luck has finally run out in Emmerdale. Earlier this year, the serial killer nurse was sentenced for her murders, bringing her storyline to an end.

Meena- who is played by Paige Sandhu- was jailed for her long list of crimes in April 2022.
The nurse was revealed to be a serial killer once Leanna found out she murdered her former best friend Nadine Butler. Leanna didn’t stand a chance once she got wind of it…
Victims of her murder spree also include her father, as well as Ben Tucker and Andrea.
After getting away with her crimes, she was eventually caught after she sabotaged Billy Fletcher and Dawn Taylor’s wedding on Valentine’s Day.
When Meena’s trial started, she seemed smug as ever. The nurse did her best to convince the jury she was a victim, but her manipulative tactics finally started to come unstuck when Liam Cavanagh and her sister Manpreet Sharma took to the stand. Uh oh…
The pair told the court exactly what Meena had put them through, and how she had previously confessed to her crimes.

While some believed she will end up manipulating her way out of prison, plan an escape or even die behind bars, the villain was eventually sentenced to a minimum of 75 years in prison.

Whether you’ve loved or loathed Meena’s serial killer storyline, it’s safe to say it’s got people talking!
Emmerdale producers were keen to create a buzz with her character, and her storyline has been a huge ratings boost for the soap in recent months.
And it seems that they’re been more than happy to give Meena the ending she deserved.
Chatting with Digital Spy, producer Kate Brooks said:
“Meena has given us so much storyline recently, so of course, there is always that temptation to let her get away with it.
But a person who is capable of such heinous crimes and has no remorse can’t stay long in the village. They can’t continue on that path because there is nowhere else to go.
She added:
“We knew that we needed to draw a line under it, not just for the viewers but for our characters who are left. They need justice and they need for Meena to be punished for her crimes.
If they don’t get the closure, then there is no way to move them on as characters, so we knew that we had to let Meena’s fate rest in the hands of the soap gods.”

We’re glad Meena was given such a fitting end!
Now that the nurse is banged up, the villagers are finally starting to move on.
Residents have been busy setting up a memorial tree in the village, but for characters like Manpreet, Liam, and his step-son Jacob, it’s going to take a while to get over their trauma.

Paige Sandhu has been absolutely incredible during her time on the show. And while she’s sad to leave the soap, she’s looking forward to her next chapter.

“I have actually started filming something, so that will be cool and there are other things that are potentials.”
So what style of character does she want to play next?
“I definitely want to continue to play baddies…I think they are so much fun to play.
“But the thing that is really fun and I wanna continue with is playing characters who are wildly different from me, where you can have a lot of fun. They’re really challenging and fulfilling.”
