It’s safe to say that Tika Sumpter has taken Hollywood by storm.
Not content with working as an actress, model and podcast host, she’s now putting her all into caring for her adorable four year old daughter Ella Loren.

Ella Loren
Ella Loren was born on 8th October 2016. And it didn’t take long before she turned into her mother’s mini me!
While parents Tika Sumpter and Nick James had initially kept the pregnancy secret (they didn’t share the news for SEVEN months) they soon started to give thanks to parents everywhere after they realised just how demanding parenting can be.
Four years later, Tika and Nick continue to dote on their daughter, and often share cute family updates on their social media channels.

Tika recently uploaded a snap of Ella Loren with her tiny feet in a foot spa- while wearing a snazzy unicorn eye mask, obviously.
Her proud mum wrote:
“We started self-care early. 🥰🥰🥰”.
And it seems like Ella was loving it!
Tika has often spoken about how proud she is of her daughter, and gave fans an insight into how she gets her little one to listen and stay focused.
Chatting US Weekly, the Mixed-ish star said:
“Their minds are so brilliant, so I would say speak to them like they’re humans because they are.
Her whole life, we never really baby talked to her, and we’ve just seen that it has helped her development a little more.
Now we’re seeing the fruits of that, which is her being able to put her words to how she feels”.
She sounds like one smart cookie.
Fiancé Nick
Tika has made no secret about how tough it can be to look after Ella Loren- especially when she’s having an off day!
Luckily, she’s had help from her fiancé Nick James, who has been on hand to get her through.
The couple first met on the set of Tyler Perry’s Have and Have Nots, and it was clear that there was an immediate spark between the pair.

While the couple kept their relationship private, the cat was out of the bag when Nick proposed…
Fans went wild when they discovered Tika and Nick were engaged, and the podcaster became more comfortable about publicly talking about her other half.
Discussing about the proposal, Tika said:
“He was like, ‘Ella has something to say to you.’ And it was just this letter of beauty.
And then he proposed.”
As proposals go, Nick’s knocked it out the park!
He’s been busy working alongside Tika to care for Ella Loren, and it seemed that he was an absolute dream when it came to parenting during lockdown.
“I have an amazing support system, which is my fiancé, Nick. And he definitely had a little more patience than I did!”.
Working Mum
When Tika isn’t busy running around after Ella Loren, the actress is keeping up with her work commitments- including her critically acclaimed podcast The Suga.
Partnering up with Thai Randolph, the star gets to grips with anything and everything that concerns black mothers, and encourages her listeners to support each other as they care for their kids.

“Black mums have considerable purchasing power but remain largely underserved and underrepresented in the media.
There’s a huge market opportunity here. The commerce and content initiatives focused on motherhood are sorely lacking in diversity.”
