Deborah Meaden Sister: What Do We Know About The Dragon’s Family?
We know Deborah Meaden as the no-fuss investor on Dragon’s Den. She’s confident and knows what she wants, and this has meant success for her businesses.
She also has an army of fans on Twitter thanks to her outspoken personality and no-fuss approach to politics. But outside of the public personality, what is Deborah Meaden’s life like?
Let’s find out all about the Dragon’s family, including Deborah Meaden’s sister…
The Dragon’s Family
Deborah Meaden was born in Taunton, Somerset, in 1959. Sadly, her parents didn’t stay together, with Deborah remaining with her mother Sonia and the family moving to Brightlingsea, Essex.
There, Deborah Meaden’s mum worked at the local Butlins, with their dad not in the picture.
The Dragon has even spoken about how sometimes her mum would leave Deborah and her sister (more about her later) with a local fisherman while their mum worked.
She said: “She found this lovely couple to look after us and give us some stability.”

However, things changed for Deborah and her family again when she was just seven years old. Her mum Sonia remarried – her third marriage – and they all moved to Wiltshire.
Deborah has even said that she considers her step-dad, Brian, more like her father than her biological dad.
She added: “I had no recollection of my real father – I’d completely blanked him from my mind.
He turned up when I was 16 and I was extremely underwhelmed, and quite irritated he acted like my father when he’d been absent all my life.”
Who is Deborah Meaden’s Sister?
So, when she was little, Deborah Meaden’s family consisted of just her mum and her older sister, Gail. So, what do we know about her?
Well, unlike her sister, she’s chosen to stay out of the public eye. Speaking about trying to organise a photo shoot with all of her sisters (she has two half-sisters from her mum’s remarriage), Deborah said:
“I was trying to get the four sisters together for a photo, but it became obvious Gail had no intention of getting her picture taken, and kept being unavailable.”
However, we have gleaned some information about her sister from Deborah’s social media.

At the time, mask-wearing was no longer a legal requirement, but Deborah flaunted her decision to continue wearing. a mask on her Twitter account.
Alongside a picture of herself in a jazzy black-cat mask, she tweeted: “Me going about my business today and every day until I hear a Science based argument on why wearing a mask is no longer needed to protect those more vulnerable than me…#wearamask”

How Did She Make Her Money?
Deborah Meaden’s journey to business is actually entwined with her mum and step-dad’s business.
After moving to Wiltshire when Deborah was young, her parents worked hard to develop their own holiday company. Remember: Sonia already had experience working at Butlins in Essex.
While her mum was developing her business, Deborah was doing the same. Sadly, though, her ceramic import business was a failure and closed after just 18 months. After this, Deborah continued trying different entrepreneurship routes, including running a Prize Bingo at a Butlins.

In 1988, though, her mum had achieved her dream of running her own holiday park business – and it was a huge success. Deborah came on board to help run their amusement arcade operations.
She spent four years at the family business, before moving to a different holiday park business, Weststar Holidays. This led to Deborah managing, in 2005, to sell the company and make a huge profit.
Amidst these successful business decisions, Deborah also found time to buy out her parents’ own holiday business – though we don’t know how much she got for it.
