Cleo Buckman Schwimmer: Getting to Know David Schwimmer’s Daughter

David Schwimmer might be a mega star, but he generally likes to live his life fairly low-key with his daughter Cleo.
The pair are rarely seen out in public, but now and again we get a glimpse of the father and daughter enjoying cute days out together.
So what do we know about David and Cleo Buckman Schwimmer?

Cleo Buckman Schwimmer
Cleo Buckman Schwimmer was born in 2011, when her famous dad David Schwimmer was married to her mum Zoe Buckman.
While she hasn’t appeared in the spotlight all that often, Cleo hit the headlines after she decided on a dramatic new look- all for a good cause.
David and Zoe’s daughter decided she wanted to shave her long locks away, and rock a cool buzz cut in the name of activism.
Her parents have always encouraged Cleo to take a “non-conformist” approach to life, and it definitely seems like she’s doing just that!
Zoe praised her daughter’ decision to ‘challenge norms and standards in a way that we didn’t’.
The English artist took to Instagram, where she shared a slideshow of herself using clippers to remove Cleo’s shoulder-length hair.

She captioned the picture:
“The world is saying “[burn] it down and rebuild” and the babies are listening.
I see how kids today challenge norms and standards in a way that we didn’t, and that, amongst other things, gives me hope!”.
Zoe’s post received tons of positive comments from her followers- including a couple of celebs.
Paloma Faith commented “She looks amazing,” while Cush Jumbo wrote “Oh GO Cleo!!! We can spud heads now 😘”.
Parents
It seems that David and Zoe have got the co-parenting nailed down. But it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the pair.
The former couple wed back in 2010- just a year before Cleo was born. While David and Zoe were pretty settled for a while, the cracks started to show in their marriage.
They filed for divorce in 2017.

David and Zoe released an official joint statement at the time of their split:
“It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship.
Our priority is, of course, our daughter’s happiness and wellbeing during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family.”
Family Unit
And it seems like the couple have stuck to their word. Both David and Zoe are hugely committed to Cleo, while still remaining friends.
The former couple hang out fairly regularly, and even took part in a Black Lives Matter march I New York City together in 2020.
Zoë revealed on Instagram that she had joined the march “with my comrade and co-parent [David Schwimmer].” David shared the same snap taken with his ex and explained:
“We’re no longer a couple, but [Zoë Buckman] and I are parents of a nine year old, and fellow advocates for social justice and reform. We marched in honour of the countless black lives lost to racial violence.”

David has continually sung Zoe’s praises over the years, and they remain a committed team.
In an interview with The Guardian, the Friends actor said:
“We’re still great friends and, touch wood, we’ve worked out a way to be really respectful and loving and caring and flexible in terms of our co-parenting.
Just making sure Cleo was going to be OK and feel supported and loved was quite painful for everyone, obviously, but I can say now that she feels really safe and happy. And all three of us try to do things together.”
