But it seems like the star hasn’t made peace with his fame just yet. If anything, he feels a bit embarrassed about it all.
In a rare interview with the press, Cillian said:
“I’m really lucky. I feel embarrassed by [fame] sometimes. I’m just a f*****g actor.
There are doctors and nurses and f****g people that work… I struggle with that. I mean, actors are overpaid, you know?
It’s nice when you get paid, when you’re young, and you’ve gone from having no money, but the Catholic guilt kicks in immediately, and I’m like ‘It’s all going to go wrong. You don’t deserve this’. And I don’t.”
He added:
“I just want to be decent and kind. They’re old-fashioned values, but they seem to be disappearing nowadays…
I never wanted to see my name over a title of a movie. None of that sh** ever entered my thinking, ever.”

Cillian’s reluctance to fame is something that’s been noted by fans over the years.
He’s spoken out about his lack of interest in all things celebrity, and prefers to hang out with his wife, visual artist Yvonne McGuinness, and their two sons, Malachy and Aran.
