Just over a year ago, Brooklinn Khoury’s life changed forever.
The model and influencer was attacked by a pit bull, which tore at her face.
Two years after her ordeal, Brooklinn is making peace with her scars, and learning to embrace her differences.
Let’s catch up with the model.
Brooklinn Khoury: Dog Attack
Brooklinn Khoury has been working hard on her rising modelling career over the years.
After building up a following on Instagram, the influencer was gearing up for her very first TV ad when her life turned upside down.
When visiting relatives in Arizona, Brooklinn was attacked by a pit bull which ripped off her entire upper lip, and parts of her nose.
It was the third time she’d met her relative’s dog before the incident took place.
The brutal attack led to a lot of reconstructive surgery for Brooklinn. She had five procedures in total, which used tissue transplants from her arm.

But despite the challenges she’s faced, the model has continued to show her bravery.
Speaking to People, Brooklinn said:
“The first time seeing my face after the surgery was scary.
But I was like, ‘Okay, time to love this new version of myself for now.’ I want people to know that they’re not alone if they’re going through something like this.”
Making Peace
While it’s taken time for Brooklinn Khoury to adjust to her new look, she’s been determined to step back in the spotlight on social media.
She’s now managing to earn about $1,000 per sponsored post, and she’s even landed a bunch of major brand deals with companies like DC Shoes. Nice work Brooklinn!

And it seems like the star is doing really well at learning to love herself again.
“I don’t really feel any different because when I’m out skating, or hanging around with friends I don’t feel any pain. It’s when I go home and have to face myself in the mirror that I realise I look a little different than how I used to.
I am not able to change the way I look at the moment, so I have learned to love everything that I see in the mirror…
We are all beautiful in our own ways no matter the situation. We need to learn to love ourselves wholeheartedly. Learn to love and appreciate the little things, and most importantly learn to see the “beauty” in everything.”
Rise to Fame
Despite hitting the big time, Brooklinn still has a bit of a love/hate relationship with social media.
“Beauty is so prescribed in so many ways. I don’t want to go on social media and feel like I’m not a whole person, looks-wise.”
But the influencer’s fans have been determined to reassure her- as has Brooklinn’s girlfriend.
Back in October, the model revealed that she was in a relationship with former Dance Moms star Chloe Lukasiak. And it didn’t take long for followers to give their congratulations.
One fan wrote:

Another said:
“Can we have a photoshoot cause you guys so cute you’d make golden hour more golden”.

She’s posted pictures online throughout her reconstructive surgery, but now her Instagram follower count actually tripled.
Brooklinn has over 165k followers, and she’s continuing to build her internet career.
She’ll be documenting more of her surgical procedures through her YouTube channel, including her next reconstructive surgery.
Doctors will be using arteries from her arm and skin to create tissue that looks just like a lip. It will cost $400,000, and require at least five follow-up surgeries.
While Brooklinn isn’t having this procedure to change her appearance, she’s keen to protect her exposed gums.
The model said that she’s happy to “rock her no-lip forever”, and knows she is never “going to look the same.”
