While Bronson Pinchot has had the occasional on-screen role in recent years, he’s not as prolific as he once used to be. However, many viewers were pleased to see him on Battle of the Network Stars in 2017 – and it’s this appearance that supposedly prompted Bronson Pinchot’s weight loss.
Bronson said that he looked back on a picture from his time on the reality game show and said: “There was an old fat guy.”
However, despite not liking what he saw, it took him a few years before he was able to commit to his weight loss routine.

In the end, it was the pandemic that really spurred Bronson Pinchot to make a change. As the world went into lockdown and the actor was stuck at home, his weight loss journey really started in earnest.
In May 2020, he started a serious health and fitness program and lost an incredible 60 pounds in just 6 months.
How did he do it? Well, going cold turkey on junk food. The actor said he removed all the junk food from his house and replaced it with healthy options.
Bronson followed a “self-designed healthy plant-based eating program,” and managed to lose weight without any serious cardio or exercise program.
Speaking of seeing the results, he said: “I just took off my clothes and put them on and they fit. And I thought, ‘I’m pretty sure I’m the only 61-year-old within a 10-mile radius that’s getting into his clothes from when he was a 26-year-old doing two aerobics classes a day.’
And that feels pretty good. That feels pretty good.”
Who is Bronson Pinchot?
Bronson Pinchot found fame in the 1980s and starred in many of the era’s best known and loved films. He got his first acting break in the Tom Cruise teen comedy-drama Risky Business, and after that also starred in Beverly Hills Cop and After Hours.
However, perhaps his most famous role was in the TV drama Perfect Strangers, which ran from 1986 to 1993. In the show, Bronson played Balki Bartokomous, an immigrant from Greece and the cousin of the show’s other main character, Larry Appleton (played by Mark Linn-Baker).
But Bronson’s starring role almost didn’t happen – because of Tom Cruise.

You’ll remember that Bronson Pinchot and Tom Cruise were co-stars in Risky Business. Well, Tom knew that Bronson was just starting out in the movie and TV business, and wanted to give him some advice.
Bronson wanted to pursue a career in TV, but Tom warned him against that. In fact, the star actually said: “Whatever you do, don’t do it.”
Thankfully, Bronson didn’t take Tom at his word, otherwise, we would never have got the loveable Balki in Perfect Strangers!
Since perfect Strangers, Bronson actually took more roles in TV, including in the Netflix supernatural teen drama Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Speaking out about Mental Health
Despite Bronson Pinchot’s revered role in the comedy Perfect Strangers, the man himself wasn’t actually happy at the time.
Recently, Bronson has spoken out about his mental health at that time, saying that he should have gotten help for depression and anxiety.

Bronson said that things were worse as he was in an unhappy relationship at the time. The actor has never married.
The actor claimed: “I would go home and my then-girlfriend wouldn’t even look up from the TV. I would go home from people screaming and police barricades and then I would go home and my girlfriend at the time wouldn’t even look up.”
Later, the actor did decide to see a therapist, but not until he was in his mid-30s. Thankfully, it looks like the actor is doing well now – as his weight loss attests!
