Adam 12 Cast: Where Are They Now?

Adam 12 was a huge hit back in the day, and it’s now become a cult TV show in its own right.
Veteran cop Pete Malloy and his rookie partner Jim Reed would take to the streets of LA, and their adventures quickly won the hearts of viewers.
But where exactly are the cast now?
Let’s investigate!
Adam 12 Cast
The core Adam 12 cast was made up of two people- Martin Milner, who played Officer Peter Malloy, and Kent McCord, who played Officer Jim Reed.
The series focused on the routines of two LAPD officers assigned to patrol-car duty, and ran from 1968 until 1975. It was created by Robert A. Cinader and Jack Webb, who had also created Dragnet.
While Adam 12 was a drama at heart, show creators wanted it to be as realistic as possible. The aim was to capture what a typical day would look like for a cop, and introduce police procedures to the general public.

Each episode of the series, like those of Dragnet, were based on real-life cases- but the names were changed of course!
Surviving Cast Members
There’s just one surviving cast member left from the show, and that’s Kent McCord.
Kent McCord began his career as the picture-perfect street cop, with a chiselled jaw and super neat hair. No wonder his iconic character Jim Reed appeared on so many shows after Adam 12!
Later in his career, he landed regular roles on Galactica 1980 (the Battlestar Galactica sequel series), SeaQuest 2032 and Farscape.
Along the way, he teamed up with his old partner Martin Milner in other TV dramas, including The Nashville Network. McCord played a widowed LAPD officer who tracks criminals to Nashville, where he buddies-up with his pal Brian O’Neal, who was played by Milner.
The pair also got together one last time in the season five premiere of Diagnosis Murder. It was Milner’s final screen role.
Martin Milner was then suffering with a long-term illness, and unfortunately passed away in 2015 at 83 years of age.
He’d had a stellar career, and had appeared in everything from Route 66 to The Life of Riley.

It was clear that Kent was devastated about his friend’s passing.
Speaking about his professional partner, Kent McCord said:
“I had a long, long friendship with Marty and we remained friends up till the end.
He was one of the really true great people of our industry with a long, distinguished career. … Wonderful films, wonderful television shows…
He was one of the great guys. I was lucky to have him in my life.”
Other members of the cast including William Boyett (Sgt. MacDonald), Fred Stromsoe (Officer Woods), Gary Crosby (Officer Wells), and Claude Johnson (Officer Brinkman) are also sadly deceased.
Family Affair
It’s safe to say that Adam 12 was definitely a family affair….
Milner’s family had travelled across the country with him while he was filming TV show Route 66, and they did the same during the filming Adam 12. Milner’s wife Judith Beth Jones even brought their young children!
Martin Milner was cast in Adam 12 thanks to his excellent driving skills- a skill which was also passed down to Milner’s son too.

In a season six story, “Northwest Division,” the officers chase a youth who flees across the city on a minibike. While Johnny Whitaker from Sigmund and the Sea Monsters played the character, he didn’t actually do the stunt riding.
The stunt driver was none other than Andrew Milner, Martin’s son!
And in the season seven episode “Victim of the Crime,” Martin Milner’s daughter Amy played the daughter of a shopkeeper who is robbed.
That very same season, Kristen McCord, Kent’s daughter, popped up in the episode “Operation Action,” playing a young witness to Malloy’s abduction.
