Kim Kardashian, the popular reality TV star, recently visited the California State Prison along with her sister Khloe as part of the REFORM Alliance’s Future Shapers Advisory Council. The council was established in 2018 by rapper Meek Mill and includes members like Ruby and Jay-Z. Kim, who is currently training to be a lawyer, wants to use her celebrity platform to bring reform to the prison system and “change the lives” of inmates.

In a statement, the 42-year-old said, “It’s an honour to be able to visit the men and women living behind our prison walls. Hearing their stories dries my commitment to advocate for reform and leverage my platform to help change lives and laws.”

Kim also expressed her excitement at being able to bring the Future Shapers Advisory Council into the prison, as they aim to build up the next generation of leaders who will join the fight for prison reform.

Earlier this year, Kim reportedly visited the Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent, CA and met with inmates in solitary to discuss their mental health. According to TMZ, the reality star spent a day at the prison and delved deep into the toll that lockup can have on an inmates mental stability.

Kim’s efforts to bring about change in the prison system are commendable and show her dedication to the cause. With her celebrity status, she can leverage her platform to bring attention to the issue and encourage others to join the fight for reform.
