During a Desert Island Discs interview, Jimmy admitted that he hadn’t made a great first impression on Karoline. He admitted that he saw her writing about how he was a “one-note comedian with the eyes of a sex offender” in her notes.
But despite their jokes, Jimmy Carr said that “it felt perfect” when they got together, and they’ve never looked back.
The couple have now been together for over two decades.

The couple welcomed their first child into the world in 2019. But Jimmy was VERY cagey about the birth of his son.
Jimmy Carr kept Karoline’s pregnancy firmly under wraps, and didn’t even reveal the name of their child until two years after his birth.
The pair decided to call their son Rockefeller, with Jimmy joking to the Radio Times:
“I’m sure I’m going to be writing a lot of material about him. In fact, I think he might be tax-deductible.”
And it hasn’t taken long for the comedian to crack jokes about becoming a dad.
He quipped:
“I had to tell my little boy he’s adopted. I mean, he isn’t, but the look on his face. I said: ‘No, no, no, you were adopted, the new family is picking you up tomorrow’.”
As if this wasn’t enough, the comedian also decided to tease:
“We’re having a gender-reveal party for our kid but we’re going to wait until he’s 21 just to be sure. With some babies you can’t tell, is it a boy or an ugly girl.”

Career
While Jimmy seems to be (slowly) showing a softer side, he’s still one of the most controversial figures in comedy today.
During his career, he’s come under fire for his hugely offensive jokes- including those about dwarves and abortion.
And he believes that he’s probably already told the “unacceptable” joke that will force him into comedy retirement– but he doesn’t know which one it is.
