Piers Morgan is a well-known face on British TV, and one of the most controversial. He’s been a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and presented the National Television Awards, and is also a host of Good Morning Britain.

But though we all know about Piers’ controversial opinions, most people won’t know about his personal life.

He married journalist Celia Walden in 2010, but this wasn’t his first marriage, and the TV and radio personality also has four children.

So who is Piers Morgan’s first wife Marion Shalloe?

Who is Marion Shalloe?

Piers Morgan married Marion Shalloe in 1991. She was a hospital ward nurse when she met Piers. He had joined The Sun in 1988 and was working with them as a freelance journalist.

They had three children together: Spencer, Stanley, and Albert.

Sadly, the two divorced in 2008, with the reason allegedly being Piers’ illicit relationship with Guardian columnist Marina Hyde.

As Marion Shalloe was pregnant with their third child, Piers exchanged emails with the showbiz columnist, who was later fired.

Piers and Marina refuse to comment on whether their relationship was strictly professional or something more. However, at the time, Piers said: “They delighted in embarrassing me and in being quite destructive to a friend, and to my personal life.

I think of Yelland sitting there with his operatives, salivating over them [the e-mails] and it makes me quite sick.”

Piers Morgans’ Children

Unsurprisingly, all three of Piers’ children with Marion Shalloe are privately educated. They have also shown an interest in following in their father’s footsteps into journalism.

Their eldest son, Spencer Morgan, is a sports journalist, and frequently shocks his 65,000 Twitter followers with his controversial opinions.

Earlier this year, he was in the news for being critical of the Coronavirus lockdown on Twitter. Some users branded his Tweets conspiracy theories.

He said: “We are currently in lockdown to protect the vulnerable. Gonna be weird when the vaccine has supposedly protected all of them and we’re… still in lockdown.”

Stanley Spencer, Piers’ second child, is currently training to be an actor. He has founded a film company and has just finished drama school.

Piers recently revealed that his sons are frequently approached to appear on reality dating shows like Love Island. In a quote typical of Piers’ outlandish style, he said:

“My sons get regularly approached for these shows but they know I’ll write them out of the will if they go on.”

His Second Wife

Piers moved on from his divorce quickly, and by 2007 he was seeing the journalist Celia Walden.

He was profiling her for a GQ article, and gushed about her good looks, saying: “She inspires equal doses of admiration, lust and fear… and is, as I write, single. When God created woman, he blessed Hollywood with Bardot, and Fleet Street with Walden.”

Celia runs in the same circles as Piers, being the daughter of Conservative MP George Walden. Piers has frequently expressed support for the Conservative Party.

He split with Marion Shalloe in 2008 and quickly made things official with Celia Walden. The couple married in 2010 and had their first daughter, Elise, in 2011.

Elise seems to get on well with her half-siblings, especially Spencer, who posts birthday messages to his half-sister.

Speaking about his divorce in 2009, Piers said: “I’ve only recently got divorced. There has to be a decent period before these things are done. The divorce was a pretty horrendous experience.”

GMB Exit

This year, Piers quit Good Morning Britain after a heated row about his comments on Megan Markle.

The Duchess of Sussex had recently revealed in an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey the extent of her mental health issues. She also said that royal officials had commented on her son’s skin colour.

Piers said that he didn’t “believe a word she said” and “the fact that she’s fired up this onslaught against our Royal Family I think is contemptible”. Following a row with weather presenter Alex Beresford, he stormed off the show.

Now, Piers has accepted a presenter job at talkTV, a new television channel by News Corp. He will also become a regular columnist for The Sun and The New York Post.
