Charity and Vanessa: What’s Next For The Emmerdale Characters?

(Image/ Source: digitalspy.com)

They’re one of the most popular couples in Emmerdale, but Charity and Vanessa have had a strenuous relationship.

They first got together in 2017, but by 2019 their relationship was on the rocks after the death of Vanessa’s dad, Frank, and Charity’s frequent lies.

Now, Vanessa is away from the village and Charity has developed a relationship with Mack. With Vanessa actress Michelle Hardwick returning to the series soon after her maternity leave, some fans are hoping for a renewed relationship.

But what is really next for Charity and Vanessa?

Charity and Vanessa

What started as a drunken kiss in the cellar of The Woolpack has turned into a tumultuous but strong relationship for Charity and Vanessa.

The pair’s happiness has been marred by a few scary events, though. This includes Vanessa being stabbed outside The Woolpack and her revealing that she has bowel cancer.

Now, actress Michelle Hardwick is ready to return from maternity leave. So, could a reunion be on the cards for Charity and Vanessa – otherwise known as Vanity?

According to Emmerdale scriptwriter Sharon Marshall, there might be.

Jamie Emmerdale: Is Romance On The Cards For The Village’s Villain?

Speaking on This Morning, Sharon revealed:

“Of course Vanity isn’t over. We know you love them, we love them. But of course, the lovely actress went off and had the most beautiful baby in the whole wide world, Michelle, so she’s on maternity leave.

We’ve not forgotten about Vanity. We love them as much as everyone else.”

However, a recent episode saw Charity learn that since leaving the village, Vanessa has got a new girlfriend, which could complicate their reunion.

However, Charity actress Emma Atkins is confident that Charity and Vanessa can repair the damage to their relationship. She said:

“I don’t believe you fall out of love with someone. Aside from Cain, Vanessa is the only person Charity has truly loved. So I think she’ll probably put up some kind of fight.”

Michelle Hardwick’s Baby

Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa in the soap, has been busy since leaving Emmerdale last year.

On October 9th 2020, she and her wife Kate Brooks welcomed their son Edward “Teddy” Peter Brooks into the world. Kate is a producer on Emmerdale.

The pair went through one round of IVF before Vanessa fell pregnant with Edward. On Instagram, Michelle revealed:

“From the initial injections to the transfer of Kate’s egg to me, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, but one we wouldn’t change for the whole world!”

In September 2021, she celebrated her second wedding anniversary with her wife. They were married at Elvis Presley’s Graceland chapel in Memphis, Tennessee.

On the occasion of their anniversary, she posted a glamorous picture on Instagram, saying:

“The kindest, most generous person ever. Thank you for the best adventures, the never ending laughs, the amount of love you have for us and most of all thank you for our beautiful family. We love you.”

Will there be a Character Death?

As part of Super Soap Week, Emmerdale producers have teased a massive death in the show. The date is still to be revealed, but if the trailer is anything to go by, it’s going to be a bombshell story.

Paige Sandhu stars as killer Meena Jutla. Producers said that her “cold-blooded attempts to have everything her own way will cast a dark and foreboding shadow throughout the drama.”

Dotty EastEnders: What Does Actress Molly Conlin Look Like Now?

The dramatic week will centre on a spooky maize maze, which has been specially grown for filming.

The two mazes were grown over five months and will provide a scary backdrop for Meena’s killer tendencies. Recently, the character has been obsessed with her relationship with David Metcalfe – who knows what she might do next.

Producers elaborated:

“With twists and turns at every corner, which will no doubt shock and surprise the audience in equal measure, the week’s compelling chain of events will lead to a chilling climax.”
