Claudia Winkleman has been on TV screens since the early 1990s when she got her first TV job on the BBC series Holiday.

Later, she became known for hosting Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two and for having her own radio show on BBC Radio 2.

As well as her career, though, fans are also curious about her personal life. Claudia was raised in London and has links to famous businesspeople and even royalty.

So who is Barry Winkleman, Claudia Winkleman’s father?

Who is Barry Winkleman?

Claudia’s parents are Eve Pollard and Barry Winkleman. Eve is a former editor of the Sunday Express and Barry Winkleman is a book publisher. 82-year-old Barry was already a millionaire by the time he had Claudia.

Unfortunately, his marriage didn’t last. Barry and Eve split when Claudia was just three years old.

After his divorce, Barry Winkleman re-married children’s author Cindy Black. Eve also re-married, finding love with Sir Nicholas Markley Lloyd, a newspaper editor and broadcaster.

This technically makes Claudia’s mum a Lady.

Barry Winkleman’s Family

After Barry Winkleman’s remarriage to Cindy Black, Claudia Winkleman gained a half-sister: Sophie Winkleman.

Sophie is a well-known actress who has starred in shows like Two and a Half Men and Peep Show. It is her role on Peep Show, as love interest Big Suze, that she is perhaps best known for.

However, what many people don’t know is that Sophie’s marriage means Claudia Winkleman is actually linked to the royal family.

In 2009, Sophie Winkleman married Lord Frederick Windsor. His father is Prince Michael of Kent, first cousin to Queen Elizabeth II.

The couple’s wedding cost an estimated £200,000 and was held at the lavish Hampton Court Palace. Attendees included singer Bryan Adams and royals such as Lady Gabriella.

Sophie was welcomed into the royal family, with Prince and Princess Michael of Kent saying that they were “enchanted with Sophie.”

Now, she is regularly pictured in the company of senior royals like Prince William and Harry. In 2020, she attended Princess Beatrice’s wedding with her husband and two children.

Claudia is also well-known for her sponsorships, including the hair brand Head & Shoulders and, more recently, Cannaray CBD oil.

In total, Claudia’s salary for her work on the BBC amounts to approximately £370,000 a year. Her net worth is estimated at £9 million.

Claudia and Kris have three children together: Jake, 17, Matilda, 14, and Arthur, 9.

The BBC presenter revealed last year that it was Kris’ manners that initially attracted him to her. She also said she loves his passion for politics, history, and social issues.

However, she did say that despite still being very much in love, she has “no idea why or how we’re still together.”

She elaborated: “He makes the bed better than me…He gets them to school on time and makes a magnificent chicken. I have never, ever sewn on one of his buttons, he’s just better at it.

I just think he has never expected me to do the house stuff and the kids stuff while he waltzes into the office.”
