We know (and adore) Tom Read Wilson from Celebs Go Dating- but there’s another side to Tom that we don’t tend to see as much.
While he’s often looking after celebs that are unlucky in love, Tom is also a gifted actor- and has travelled the world starring in shows and movies.
So what exactly has Tom been doing?

Tom Read Wilson: Early Days
The star was passionate about acting from an early age.
During his school days, Tom would often star in stage plays- and even filled roles at other schools and colleges if they didn’t have enough students to take part.
At this point, Tom Read Wilson caught the acting bug, and one of his teachers recommended enrolling into The Royal Academy of Music on a musical theatre course.
After this, the actor worked across the globe in various pantomime roles; Tom performed in Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Cat in the Hat, as well as the play Sweet Revenge. This took Tom over to Dubai for a while, before returning home to the UK to star in the film Queen and Country.

Nadia Celebs Go Dating: Why did she leave?
Tom Read Wilson also has a passion for singing, and made his first ever TV appearance in 2016 when he auditioned for The Voice.
He sang his own version of Accentuate the Positive and received a standing ovation from the crowd- but none of the judges turned around for him. Boo.
Hitting the Big Time
We all know that Tom Read Wilson’s career hit the big time when he landed a job on Celebs Go Dating as a Junior Client Coordinator- but it hasn’t stopped the star from pursuing his other passions.
He now collaborates with his pal and writing partner Gary Albert Hughes, and they often perform their material in the form of cabaret.
But Tom’s training as an actor has led to some suggesting that his role on Celebs Go Dating is fake- and that his super posh accent is staged.
As it turns out, Tom Read Wilson really is that posh in real life. And he loves words just as much as he appears to in Celebs Go Dating.

Celebs Go Dating 2021: What happened next?
Chatting to The Sun, the star joked:
“People often think that behind my plummy, polysyllabic carapace there probably isn’t much of a brain, and I’m afraid it’s true.
My extensive vocabulary is a thin veil for idiocy.
I think people are quite attracted to me until I start talking. They think they’re getting a jock, then it turns out I’m Mary Poppins!”.
Future Projects
So what does the future hold for our favourite receptionist?
After a few cast changes, it seems like Tom Read Wilson will be staying put on Celebs Go Dating- which we’re VERY happy about.
Tom’s love for vocabulary has also led to the star creating his own “Word of the Day” segment on his social media channels, which has been delighting fans for a fair few years now (including us).

Tom Celebs Go Dating: The lowdown on the TV receptionist
It’s all a part of Tom’s mission to make the English language less elitist.
Speaking with Kate Thornton, the star said:
“I think that the sadness with language is that it has become elitist…
“I want to make it much more, more physical and much more of a kind of almost a sensual delight. If you can share that and then it becomes a passion for somebody else, it’s a gift that goes on for the rest of your life.”
As well as pursuing his passion for vocabulary, Tom is also getting stuck into radio work with his 4Music show called Tom Read’s Pride Darlings.
And after his recent success on Celebrity Best Home Cook, the star is now working alongside The Food and Drink Awards as a celeb judge. He’s a busy man!
