A star of radio and TV, Zoe Ball has a career spanning almost 30 years. In that time she’s hosted shows on BBC Radio 1, hosted a BBC Children In Need telethon, and appeared on Strictly Come Dancing.

She is also known for being the wife of superstar DJ Fatboy Slim, who she married in 1999.

But how many children does the presenter have?

Zoe Ball married Norman Cook (otherwise known as Fatboy Slim) at Babington House in Somerset in August 1999. The couple had two children together.

Their son Woody was born in 2000, and their daughter Nelly was born in 2010.

Woody Cook appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with his mum and also starred in The Circle in 2019. He currently goes to university in Bristol, after taking a gap year to travel.

He became one of the most popular stars of the show thanks to his down-to-earth personality, though his parents apparently weren’t happy that he would be appearing on reality TV.

Their 11-year-old daughter Nelly enjoys more of a private life than Woody, with Zoe sharing only the occasional snap on social media of her daughter.

Where Did Zoe Ball Meet Her Husband?

Zoe Ball joined BBC Radio 1 in 1997 when she started co-hosting the Radio 1 Breakfast show.

She met Norman Cook when the station sent her and fellow presented Sara Cox to Ibiza. According to Zoe, Sara predicted they would get along well, saying “You’re going to love Norman Cook when you meet him.”

She was right; Zoe was smitten with the DJ as soon as they met, and their friendship soon blossomed into a relationship.

Sadly, in 2016 Zoe and Norman announced that they were getting a divorce. When she announced their separation, she said:

“After many exciting adventures together over the last 18 years we have come to the end of our rainbow.

We are still great friends and will continue to support each other and raise our beautiful children together, living next door but one.”

A Life in TV and Radio

Zoe became the first female DJ to host a BBC radio show solo, but her time at the station was marred with controversy.

She was known for her lavish, party lifestyle, which was linked to the “ladette” culture of the 90s, and was repeatedly warned for swearing live on air.

She left Radio 1 in 2000 when her son was born, but later joined London station Xfm.

She starred in series three of Strictly Come Dancing in 2005, finishing third on the show with partner Ian Waite. She later took over from Claudia Winkleman as the host of Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two.

As a BBC presenter, she earned approximately £1.3 million per year. This was enough for her to continue living on the luxurious Millionaire’s Row in Brighton, where she stayed after splitting from Norman Cook in 2016.

She later sold her £2.5 million beachside townhouse and bought a £970,000 cottage in the East Sussex village of Ditchling.

Who Is She Dating Now?

After her divorce from Fatboy Slim, Zoe’s dating life hit another tragedy in 2017.

She had been dating BBC cameraman Billy Yates for just a few months when he tragically took his life on May 4th 2017.

In early 2018, Zoe took part in a charity bike ride from Blackpool to Brighton to raise money for Sport Relief and mental health awareness.

In May 2020, she shared a picture of her former beau for the third anniversary of his death, captioning the picture: “Billy, 3 years. Your love lives on in the hearts of all your dear ones angel. Always the rainbow coming around the bend.”

She started dating businessman Michael Reed in 2017, and though they split briefly in November 2019, are now happily back together.

The two have recently moved in together, buying a quaint country home with a vegetable patch and potting shed.

Though she is yet to reveal where exactly she’s relocated to, the pair clearly seem very happy.
