It’s safe to say that Jason Pethers and Letitia Dean were a soap marriage made in heaven.
But unfortunately, things weren’t destined to last between the pair.
After something of a whirlwind romance, Jason and Letitia ended up going their separate ways as their relationship broke down.
So what do we know about their short-lived marriage, and who are the soap stars now dating?

Early Romances
Jason Pethers is most famous for his role as Rob Greening in Holby City– and he was a bit of a heartthrob during his time in the show!
The pair met through their TV social circles, and soon hit things off.
And in 2001, Jason and Letitia got engaged- despite only knowing each other for a few months.
The pair got hitched in a beautiful ceremony at All Saints’ Church in Marylebone in September 2002, surrounded by fellow soap stars. Letitia’s co-star Sue Tully, who played Michelle Fowler in EastEnders, was a bridesmaid at the wedding.

The pair enjoyed a swanky wedding day exclusive with Hello! Magazine, helping soap fans get their fix of the big day.
Jason and Letitia went on to enjoy five years of marriage, but cracks started to show between the couple when they had discussions about children.
Letitia was keen to settle down and start a family at this point- but Jason wasn’t so sure.
According to the Daily Mirror, Letitia said:
“As you get older you don’t know how many eggs you have left in your basket, so you should never take it for granted pregnancy will happen.”
Despite this, Jason made it clear to Letitia that he wanted to wait. This then sparked the breakdown of the soap stars’ marriage.
Marriage Breakdown
In 2007, it was announced that Jason and Letitia had separated. And at the time, it seemed like everyone had an opinion on their marriage breakdown.
Jason’s own mum Joan decided to speak out to the press, and revealed:
“They both wanted children, but Jason wanted to wait until he could afford it. She had a lot more money than him. I think, like any man, he wanted to look after his wife.
“They were happy. It was no dramatic thing – they haven’t found someone else. I guess they just fell out of love for the time being.”
At the time, Letitia was one of EastEnders’ top earners during her 21 years in the soap, making as much as £200,000 a year as Queen Vic landlady Sharon Watts.

She was also making her fortunes during Panto season, earning up to £45,000 a week.
Speaking to Hello! Magazine at the time of her divorce, Letitia said:
“As a couple, you can, hopefully, go down the same path together as long as you share the same desires and dreams.
Unfortunately, many of us fork off in different directions.
Separating was horrible and devastating, but now we’re in a good place.”
While Jason preferred to step out of the spotlight, Letitia soon threw herself into a new TV project by appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.

But an insider on the Strictly set said that Letitia was finding it difficult being back in the public eye so soon after her break-up.
The source said:
“Letitia is obviously going through a tough time and the pressure is taking its toll. She’s trying to cope with the split with Jason, being back in the limelight and the stress of performing on the show.”
While Letitia continue to stay in the limelight, Jason eventually stepped back from acting altogether, and instead focused on becoming a media mogul.
Both Letitia Dean and Jason Pethers are both reportedly single.
