He took to Instagram in December 2020 to share a picture from that fateful day, saying: “22yrs since my life changed for ever @ the clothes show live!!
The following Friday I moved down to London for good……it all snowballed from there!!”

The presenter revealed that he was initially going to decline the invitation to model but quickly changed his mind when his mate said “if you go on this catwalk thing, I’ll get the beers for the rest of the afternoon”.
From that moment, his life was changed. He went from working in a DIY shop to modelling and launching a successful career on TV.
A Life on TV
Vernon Kay started his career on Channel 4’s entertainment show T4 and also presented shows for CBBC.
His longest presenting job was on All Star Family Fortunes, which he hosted for a staggering 12 series.

Vernon made the switch to radio in 2004, presenting his own show on BBC Radio 1. After that, he presented on Radio X.
Now, the star has moved away from entertainment to sport, presenting Formula E motor racing.
The change may come as a surprise to some, but he’s been presenting the sport for three years now and has grown to love it
He said: “In Formula E, there’s lots of overtaking. There’s lots of crashing because we’re on short tight circuits and the intensity of the racing for 45 minutes is absolutely awesome.
In the three years I’ve been doing Formula E, I’ve realised that the motorsport fraternity is quite a close-knit group. It sounds really cheesy but it does feel like we’re one big happy family, even the drivers.”
Who is Vernon Kay’s Wife?
Vernon Kay is married to television presenter Tess Daly.
They met while Vernon was working for T4 and got married two years later in 2003 in Vernon’s hometown of Horwich, Bolton.
Their first child, Phoebe was born in 2004, and five years later they welcomed their second daughter Amber.

The pair’s marriage hit rocky territory in 2010 when it was revealed that Kay was exchanging flirty texts with Page 3 model Rhian Sugden.
He later apologised to Tess on Radio 1, saying:
“Now this week you may or may not be aware that because of some foolish and stupid decisions I have made, I have disappointed and I have let down a lot of people.
To my family and everybody, I am very sorry.”
Rhian herself also wrote to Tess to apologise. Thankfully, the couple managed to work through it, and now seem happier than ever.

The star is now taking it easy after his gruelling time in the jungle. He’s recently been pictured on a relaxing holiday in Cornwall with his wife Tess Daly and their children.
The pair were seen gallivanting on the beach and enjoying fresh seafood on their hols, with Tess saying: “Feeling refreshed after a trip beside the sea, with @vernonkay and the girls. We walked, we ate incredible food (thanks @hoteltresanton for not taking my fave baked goats cheese salad off the menu) and we relaxed.”
Vernon also recently reunited with his jungle camp-mate Jordan at Gwrych Castle – where the series was filmed – for Radio 1’s Summer Breakout.
