It’s safe to say that Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are morning TV royalty.
They’ve spent the past fifteen years on our TV screens while presenting This Morning- but there’s been a LOT of controversies along the way.
And now it seems that the pair’s future on the popular daytime show could be uncertain.

The pair both have backgrounds in newscasting and current affairs, and the duo have been able to put these skills to the test in their presenting duties.
During their time on the show, Eamonn and Ruth have interviewed a wealth of guests and celebs- and Ruth’s interviews in particular have gained enormous praise on social media.
But while the couple have enjoyed huge successes over the years, their time on This Morning has come with controversy.
Controversies
Ruth Langsford has generally remained quieter that Eamonn when it comes to airing opinions, but it hasn’t stopped her from getting caught up in the crossfire when her husband puts his foot in it.
Back in 2012, Eammon Holmes suggested to a sex addict that she “should charge for it”. Yes, this actually happened.
The presenter had joined Holly Willoughby to interview Crystal Warren, who looked visibly uncomfortable during Eamonn’s questioning.

He also landed himself in hot water about his comments about Meghan Markle after branding the princess as “uppity”.
Not only did the presenter receive complaints to Ofcom, but a viewer also pointed out that the term has racist origins, and was used in the US in the 19th Century to refer to Black people who “didn’t know their place”.
And last year, Eamonn was at the centre of a social media storm after casting doubts on media outlets that were debunking the myth that 5G causes coronavirus.
While presenting the ITV hit show, the star said:
“What I don’t accept is mainstream media immediately slapping that down as not true when they don’t know it’s not true.
It’s very easy to say it is not true because it suits the state narrative.”
Eamonn Holmes was then forced to read a statement debunking the theory the following day while live on air.
Facing the axe?
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Eamonn and Ruth would be axed from This Morning, and replaced with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
The married couple were usually called in to cover the show on Fridays and during half-term, sparking fears that Eamonn and Ruth were being side-lined by producers.
The pair hosted their last weekly episode of This Morning back in December 2020.
However, Eamonn and Ruth were recently reinstated to present the popular daytime show for six weeks during the summer holidays, and it seems the pair couldn’t be more delighted.

But there are still doubts about whether Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will have a regular place on the show- and Eammon’s continual controversies haven’t helped matters for the pair.
A TV insider had previously told The Sun that Eamonn feared he was “too pale, stale and male” to remain a regular face on the show for much longer.
A source explained:
“No one wants to see them go. The shows execs have some very tricky decisions. Eamonn fears he is basically too ‘pale, stale and male’, and, at 60, perhaps not in line with the youth drive broadcasters are after.”
