Rita Cumiskey May Be The driving Force Behind Ricky Tomlinson’s Career
Royale Family and Brookside star, Ricky Tomlinson has been happily married to his wife Rita Cumiskey for 18 years now.
They had their fair share of criticism at the start of their relationship. As Rita Cumiskey was his manager and long-term partner before the two became an item.
Tomlinson has three children with his first wife, Marlene Tomlinson. The pair were married for 24 years before calling it quits. It seems, Rita Cumiskey was also married for 20 years to her first husband John Durston. The father of her son Tony and daughter Claire.
When Wedding Bells Were Ringing
Who says the second time around isn’t the right charm? It definitely seems so for the couple celebrating their marriage of 18 years.
The couple chose to get married in a modest Liverpool social club. Ricky was 63 at the time and Rita 54. In fact, they were partners for 10 years prior to officially tying the knot.
Tomlinson’s ex-wife, Marlene concedes in an interview saying
“I’m sure the two will be very happy together.”
News revealed that despite wanting to live away from the public eye, Tomlinson sold his wedding photos to celebrity magazine OK!
To which, Marlene comments “Let’s face it, Ricky’s got his autobiography to finish, and the only wedding photos he had to use before he married Rita were the ones of him and me.
“At least now he’ll have something to put in the last chapter.”
And who can he thank for landing such lucrative deals throughout his career? Wife Rita Cumiskey is the person to thank. Her ambitions and belief to land roles and a book deal have landed him the same writing league as Robbie Williams.

Tomlinson’s published autobiography, entitled Ricky, surprisingly stayed at the top of the UK best-selling new books chart for 5 weeks. He reveals having affairs as well as describing in detail his time in prison.
With Rita’s financial acumen and expertise, she had Ricky set to become a millionaire forging the deal with OK! magazine.

On a live Loose Women sex chat, Robbie Williams made a remark about his and his wife’s sex life. Tomlinson then jumped on to the Loose Women sex chat and dropped quite the bombshell about his personal sex life with Rita Cumiskey.
He says

It resulted in a round of shocked laughter from the audience and panel as he went into more detail about their kinky sex sessions, before joking:

Past Catching up to the Present
Even before meeting his true match, Rita Cumiskey, Ricky Tomlinson was charged with conviction.
Recently the actor reveals he’s willing to face jail time in a heartbeat standing up for workers’ rights and freedom. The Liverpool star was one of the trade unionists known as the Shrewsbury 24 who had their 1970’s convictions for conspiracy overturned on Tuesday.
In 1972, Tomlinson was one of the pickets in Shrewsbury 24 jailed for 2 years due to said conspiracy conviction on top of a handful of offenses.
According to BBC, the 81-year-old actor said he went through months of solitary confinement during his two-year sentence because he acted as a political prisoner, but had no regrets. He said he did what he had to, adding:
“You’ve got to fight, haven’t you?”
Life wasn’t easy for the actor facing consequences after confinement. His big break was when he got the part as Jim Royale, Mike Barrett, and Bobby Grant.
He considers himself lucky to have gotten those roles.
To this day, Ricky Tomlinson is working to clear his name as he has maintained innocence throughout the campaign. The 81-year old actor is recently facing review for the 70’s strike conviction.
