It’s our favourite time of the year again, as Love Island graces our screens six days a week for more drama, gossip, and romance.
But one of the most distinctive parts of the reality show isn’t the challenges or the fashion, but the Love Island voice over.
The narrator brings us fresh laughs each night, but who is the comedic star of the dating show?
The Love Island Voice Over
In fact, the Love Island voice over is provided by Edinburgh-born comedian Iain Stirling.
The Scottish funnyman has been narrating Love Island since it started in 2015. Despite not appearing in person, he has grown to be one of the most recognisable aspects of the much-loved reality dating show.
With his brash style of humour and quick-witted jabs at the contestants, Iain Stirling’s comments often become viral hits.

Every night, viewers not only look forward to the newest drama but also the hilarious one-liners from the Scotsman.
But though Iain Stirling has made a name for himself as the star of the Love Island voice over, his career doesn’t start and end there.
Where did the Love Island Narrator Start?
The 33-year-old began doing stand-up in the final year of his Law degree at the University of Edinburgh.
In 2009, he entered the Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, finishing second place behind superstar funnyman Joe Lycett.

However, most of us will probably remember him from his time on CBBC.
Aged just 21, he took the helm of the children’s TV channel, starring alongside trusty animal sidekick Hacker T. Dog.
He wasn’t just the face of the show, though. The comedian also contributed writing to CBBC and BBC Scotland, and presented popular CBBC shows like Help! My Supply Teacher’s Magic and The Dog Ate My Homework.
What Else Does He Do?
Stirling is certainly kept busy outside of cracking jokes as the Love Island voice over.
Since 2017, he has been presenting the ITV2 gameshow CelebAbility, where celebrities go head-to-head with members of the public in bizarre challenges.
Stirling has also starred on the hugely popular celebrity gameshow Taskmaster and even appeared on the first all-male panel of Loose Women in November 2020.
Last year, however, the comedian turned to more innovative methods of performing – by starting a Twitch account.
Now, Stirling can be found regularly streaming on the platform, playing games such as Fortnite and FIFA 21. His classic style of dry, tongue-in-cheek comedy is amassing him a huge following – he now has over 60,000 subscribers.

You can also see Stirling in the brand-new ITV2 sitcom Buffering, which he created with fellow comic Steve Bugeja.
The show was partly inspired by the duo’s lives and stars Stirling as a children’s presenter navigating relationship troubles. Luckily, the man himself has few of those…
Who Is Iain Stirling’s Wife?
In fact, the comedian’s wife is none other than current Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore. She took over the reins from seasoned presenter Caroline Flack in December 2020 after Flack stepped down from the show.
Stirling and Whitmore first met as early as 2016 at an ITV party, and by 2017 they were confirmed as an item.

They shared only infrequent glimpses into their relationship over the next two years, but photos showed them moving in together in late 2018.
Things went from good to better, and in December 2020 Whitmore revealed that she was pregnant with the couple’s first child.
But the biggest surprise for fans came in January 2021, when the pair let the cat out of the bag and confessed that they had secretly tied the knot in a small ceremony in 2020.
They married in Whitmore’s hometown of Dublin, and opted to wear a stunning bespoke white suit in place of a dress, pairing it with glittery Jimmy Choos.

On Instagram, Whitmore gushed about the beautiful ceremony, saying:
“A year ago Iain asked me to marry him and we had the most magical, perfect ceremony.
We loved having it to ourselves. We had been planning the perfect celebration and I will forever be so thankful that’s what we got.”
A few months later in March 2021, the couple’s first daughter was born. In July, the pair settled back into working life, with Stirling returning to work as the Love Island voice over.
